845 and the rains

I've been waiting for a break in the weather (its been cold and rainy) to apply 845. This afternoon is supposed to be nice (partly cloudy, in the 70s). However, rain is predicted for tomorrow.

If I wax the car this afternoon, I may have to drive in the rain approximately 12hours later. Will this have an adverse effect on the 845? What about other waxes and sealants? I've read all kinds of stuff about "cure" times but I'm not sure if that applies to rain. This is the "winter application" so durability is particularly importment to me.

I don't know anything about that wax, but I think so long as it sits for 12 hours or so dry, you won't have any problems. If your that worried, I'd just throw a second coat on the next time you've got a sunny day.

Becareful of what you read on this forum. There is a common missunderstanding and miss use of the words CURE and FLASH. In the Pro Details section in the CnB etc. Make sure you know the understanding of the terms as alot of people dont!

I would keep it out of the rain for as long as possible with in the first 12 hours. Its good if you can keep away from and dew too. Its often been said that durability is even increased if you dont remove the product after it has flashed slightly for a few hours.

I guess YMMV always applies, but I've never had any problems from getting my pretty-fresh LSPs rained on. When I had my previous shop, I'd often drive a car home in the rain after having just waxed it.

I can't recall any specific instances involving 845, but I'm sure I've had it rained on after fewer than 24 hours with no problems.

I do know that I've had KSG rained on a few hours after application (well before it should've been cured) with no problems.

I wouldn't worry one bit about 845 getting rained on ~12 hours after application. But be sure to post something if you do it, and something *does* go wrong, so others are forewarned.

it will be just fine. most LSP's need a few hours to set before applying another but not 845. you can apply to the whole car go back to where you started and wipe it off then throw down another layer right away. and for anybody that is old enough or has looked up old techniques you will learn that it use to be common practice after waxing to run cold water over the car to help the wax harden and form a bond.

The colder it is, the longer it takes for them to first dry and then cure. Note that many people like to pull a car outside into the hot sun to speed up this process; cold weather is not your friend in this regard.

Thanks for the replies.

It didn't rain for at least 48 hours after I applied the 845. I have since put on a second coat.

I am very pleased with the product.

When I contacted Colliite about some layering stuff they told me to wait 30mins between coats. So I would belive that you will not have a problem waiting 12hours. Also as Accumulator mentioned, Ive driven cars in the rain less than 15mins after I waxed them and never had had a problem.
