Re: Did I over-do it?

Either will be fine, the XP is supposed to be more powerful, however reviews are lukewarm.

Noting for the umpteenth time that I've only used the presumably similar Griot's pads...

It won't be a problem. Yeah, that's just an educated guess, but I'm quite confident that it'll work out OK (if it doesn't, PM me).

Also, they only have the blue and the orange, I need to compound, polish and wax - don't I need 3 different densities?
Only if you want to apply the wax via machine. In that case, buy some other waxing pad (red, gold come to mind). You can get this in a larger size.

Are the CCS pads really that bad? I really like the choices and prices

Some people have had issues using them with M105, and that product is sufficiently similar to UC that I'd wonder. The tangerine pad oughta be super for use with 1Z PP too, as I've done well with it on the Griot's pad.

Autopia has TWO Porter Cable models and I'm not sure which one to get..
AFAIK the more powerful/desirable one will have "XP" in the model name. You might also check out the Griot's polisher, which is what I'd buy if I were shopping for such a machine (AG handles Griot's).

The Flex 3401 is *the* random orbital polisher IMO, but it's in a whole 'nother price range.
