White specks after polishing

Hey today i was polishing with my 6" griots random orbital with griots machine polish 3 and i noticed that after i polished the hood on my car, there were white specks on the hood that i couldn't remove. what causes this and how can i prevent it?

Is there rock chips and polish got in them?

I will post some pics of it tomorrow morning. I am still mourning over the loss of my Jaguar's hood ornament. It was stolen today when I parked my XJ8 VDP in front of my house for only two hours
