Ditto that! here in Southern New England, it can be in the 50's+ in December... and it's so nice when it is!

Re: Who's doing/done their winter prep?

I don't do any special winter prep. I always have it ready enough for conditions.

Re: Who's doing/done their winter prep?

I'll probably start on winter preps next weekend if I don't have any customer's cars to do. I want to get it over with before all my regulars want their cars done like they always do (usually from mid-October to mid-November I am busting my *** trying to get them all in).

September is still a bit early for winter preps IMO. Once late November rolls around and they haven't been prepped yet, the weather is to the point where I just say screw it and just toss on a quick coat of something on instead of being really thorough like I should.

Re: Who's doing/done their winter prep?

Glad to see another Western NY-er on the forum..........it's lonely out here !!

BTW, since when is late September TOO early for anything winter related?? I'm starting NOW. It's so fickle around here. One cold blast across Lake Erie and Buffalo can be socked in!! Same here in Roch-cha-cha......ugh. You have to be like me and dreading the winter season. What I'd do for just 50'sF around here Nov. - March! (I love you guys from the southern & southwestern states who are doing your "winter prep". The crap around here is real winter............especially when it snows, thaws and gets sloppy!)

Collonite 845 just arrived and I'm trying it for the first time for winter preparation on the DD. Hope the claims of our friends in Utica hold up!

See ya.

Re: Who's doing/done their winter prep?

2 layers of Opti-seal with 2 layers of OCW. Will add OCW every 4-6 weeks.

Re: Who's doing/done their winter prep?

Pardon my "Newbiness", but what is OCW? I want to winterize my Audi, and need more information on what products work best for the long Michigan winters!

Re: Who's doing/done their winter prep?

Anywhere from 4 to 6 layers of 476 on thus far. I don't like layering 476 without doing a traditional wash in between coats so I have to do it while it's nice enough to wash outside. Probably a bit early but better safe than sorry.

Yes, it is lonely! Autopians in WNY are a rare breed.

I need to order some rubber floor mats (along with snow tires and new wiper blades in about a month and a half) in addition to my winter detailing prep. Poli-Seal plus a layer of 476s is what I'm counting on to keep me protected this winter. If you are doing 845, I would add another layer during a nice day in late November or early December, I'm probably going to do the same with 476s.
