i was doing an oil change when i walked around my car and found this:
not sure what it is, much less how to tackle it. tried bug/tar remover, didnt work. claying didnt work either. i dont want to use anything too aggressive without knowing what it is first. its not sticky or anything, its just some sort of film. any help would be appreciated!
Man, that actually looks like what happened to my freinds paint when his wife placed her clothes on his trunk while she talked to her freind in the parking lot. Did anyone drape anything on your car?

not that i can remember...i did not have any passengers around lately, and i leave the car indoors (garage at home, parking structure at work) which leaves very little time for anything to be baked on the paint. i guess ill just have to move up. do you guys think wetsanding is the way to go? or should i try out something less aggressive still?
