Have you checked out 4 Star today? Move over Big Blue!

They have a new MF towel. It looks just like CMA's Big Blue Towel but 4 Star's is purple (very appropriate considering the color of their banner on Autopia ). Check this out! Click the picture to go to their site. Its under detailing towels.

Click the picture!

Its only 14 bucks too! Holy cow! Has anyone used that towel before? I'd like to find out who makes it and see if its just a smaller Big Blue that is dyed purple. Very interesting....

I think the review was on a different towel, not one that had the waffle weave. However, its worth noting that this towel is the same size as the new CMA Little Blue Towel, and just one dollar less (unless you buy 2, then CMA is cheaper).

That other review isn't the same thing. That is CMA's 'Big Blue' vs 4 Star's 'Big Blue'. Those are definatly different towels. This one looks like its the same as CMA's. I didn't know they had a small one too. I just cruise around my usual haunts once in awhile and I stumbled on 4 Star. CMA is nice but their shipping usually hurts more than the average bear. Still a great company though. Thank God for the 15% discount we get from time to time. That usually covers the shipping on stuff. My brother just ordered a Big Blue from CMA and he said that they have it on backorder. I know its popular. I definatly think that 4 Star's Barney Towel is worth looking into though. Especially if its the same price as CMA. My wife is going to think I've lost my mind if I buy another towel this month but I think I'm going to have to try this one. The waffle weave is really a great idea for a drying towel.

Oh, OK. My mistake.... The fact that you compared the price of a towel that is only 16x24 with CMA's 25x36 inch towel price and were blown away by it kinda threw me off. I thought you were referring to 4 Star's drying towel.

That is what I thought. I figured you were thinking somewhere along those lines.

Where'd Premium's Big Blue go ?

I did the initial review on Premium's Big Blue MF Chamios. Now I don't see it on the site. Did they drop it for some reason - it was quite thin ? I'd of rather had the smaller waffle weave (assuming it performed well). I may check into an exchange.

I don't think their old Big Blue performed as well as CMA's big blue. I don't know how it compares to this new purple one but I don't think the waffle weave MF towel was an option till recently.

You know, about a possible exchange... This is how I look at it. A Civic EX doesn't perform like a Civic Si but I don't think the dealership would let you trade just because the Si wasn't availible when you bought the EX. That's just my thought. 4 Star has always been very easy to deal with so I guess it couldn't hurt to ask.

I think the old Platinum Big Blue works really well. Its no CMA Big Blue but I still use it. I think it was worth the money I paid for it. I'm looking forward to another drying towel anyway. You can never have too many.

Jngrbrdman,

I agree with your comments and I feel I got what I paid for. But do you agree that this towel is substandard in terms of MF quality (plushness) ? - I didn't buy it at AutoZone.

I can agree with that to a certian extent. I don't know that I'd say "substandard" but I know where you are coming from. It is a pretty unique MF towel. Its different than my Vipers and its definatly different than the CMA BBT. I was suprised at how well it really did though. I wasn't expecting it to absorb as much as it did. Its definatly for smaller jobs but I'm sure I'll always find uses for it. I think that given a preference I would rather have that new purple one but I think I got a good deal on the Platinum BBT anyway. I totally see where you are coming from and can understand though. Maybe that is why they replaced it. They knew it wouldn't really be able to compete with the waffle weave towels.

I'm getting MF fever!

I clicked the link for the pic above then got snared by their Super Plush MF Towel, 20x40 for $17.95 on sale. It doesn't seem to be the same as the one referred to in the review linked to above, anyone tried it?

It works out to two and a quarter cents/in^2! That's 19% cheaper than CMA's Big Blue ($0.0277/in^2, on sale)!

Math aside- I'm in the market for a replacement for my absorber...

Robert

Speaking of CMA's Big Blue, when the hell are they going to get them back in stock. Mine have been on backorder for almost a month.
