Vinyl racing stripes??

My girlfriends dad has an 05 Roush Stage 2 mustang. Its Sonic Blue with white vinyl racing stripes. I havent ever done paint correction on a car with vinyl decals on the paint. Would you suggest for me to just tape them up and correct around them? It doesnt need much, it just has some minor swirls. Also, he usually just waxes them when he does the car, but is that the best way to protect them? Thanks.

Re: Vinyl racing stripes??

this was my old car

as you can see it had a few.

i used to mask the edges if i clayed it so as not to lift it(although they were on there very well) and i used to wax them to help protect them. then i would run a detail swab up the edges to remove the built up wax(takes alot of time though with this many)

i will say though ive always done it by hand and never used a machine so no advise here.maybe worth low tack taping it.

dont know if this helps
