Ballpark estimate?

I work at a residential facility with at risk youth and recently had a coworker inform me that one of the students damaged his vehicle. Apparently he became upset and threw a plastic clipboard and some rocks at the vehicle (icing on the cake is that the kid was laughing the entire time). One of the doors had a deep gash about a centimeter long going through to bare metal and a side view mirror that had a chip also going through the primer.

When he first informed me I told him that I might be able to buff some stuff out at no charge but after actually seeing it discovered that it was chipping through the primer. He's curious what repairs would cost (I'm assuming that would be a full repaint of the areas chipped). I know it would be best for him to get an actual estimate from a body shop, and I'm sure that he eventually will, but he may be filing a police report and pressing charges to hold the kid accountable. Anyone with body shop experience have a ballpark or guestimate of what the damages would cost to repair? Thanks guys!

And hats off to the coworker for not flipping out and for being cool under pressure. If it were me, my head would rotate 180 degrees and I'd be walking up and down stairways on my hands.

Small ARea Teqnique, repair (S.M.A.R.T ) like Chips Away would be your best bet for a cheap repair, from the discription I doubt it would 'buff out' and any attempt might even make it worse as it may enlarge the damage by buffing further down into the primer coat.

Painting then wetsanding might also be another option.

Yeah, it's going to need a repaint, and buffing won't help at all. He probably won't want a touch up (even a 1 footer) since it's an 06.
