Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

I purchased the Menz 106FA from you, and got the free white pad with it. For light swirl marks, would I use the white or black pad with the PC to remove them? Then when finished, I can go right to the Wolfgang 3.0DGP sealant? Or should I glaze?

I use the Menzerna 106FA with a grey/black finishing pad for fine polishing. The finish and gloss that it leaves behind is very good and you can go directly to the Wolfgang 3.0 Deep Gloss Paint Sealant if you like or you can bring out the shine even more by using Menzerna Micro Polish, Menzerna Finishing Glaze or Wolfgang Finishing Glaze.

On harder paints or paint with more severe swirls, you may benefit from using a polishing pad to get a little more cut. For example I may use:

Menzerna 106FA - White Polishing Pad
Menzerna Micro Polish PO 87MC - Grey Finishing Pad
Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 - Red LSP Pad

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

Does autogeek have any plans on starting to sell good quality grout sponges ? They are quite popular among autopians, don't remember the brand.

And I also want to thank autogeek for the outstanding service. In my last order I got a bottle of Wolfgang sealant that I think is great stuff.

We offered the Shmitt GS but it appears to be on manufacturer backorder at the present time.

Thank you for your business. I've been using the Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant for 5 years and the new 3.0 version took the shine and slickness up to astronomical levels.

I have a 2008 infiniti G35 in platinum graphite. Does Infiniti have hard paints? I probally should have gotten the 85rd. It is a 3 month old car. Oh well!

To the best of my knowledge, Infinity paint falls in the category of medium to soft.

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

DWG

I use it with a blue 6.5" CCS pad on the 7424.
How many layers can you apply before it becomes overkill?

And most importantly... what speeds do I work it with? (right now I spread it at speed 2 and 'melt' it in at 3-3.5) Do I need to put in more passes and up the speed like a polish? (I guess the last question is more about 'working' glazes in general.)

2 layers would be enough to ensure even and adequate coverage. Speed settings may vary from product to product so it would be best to follow manufacturers directions on the label to get the best results.

We have videos that show XMT Carnauba Finishing Glaze in use, just click on Light Swirl Removal or Intermediate Swirl Removal to watch the videos here in our Dual Action Polishing Guide
