I have heard conflicting reports that newer cars should use the newer Polymer paint protection rather than the ole faithful Carnauba waxes. Can anyone tell me what would be the best product for my car?

Not sure if this helps but my car is currently kept outside in Southwest Florida i.e., very hot and rainy.

Thanks for all your help,

There is no "best" wax or sealant to use. In terms of which will protect the best, a synthetic will be your best bet.

Carnaubas will look better - you'll get more depth, wetness, and a more overall rich "glow" from the paint due to certain oils in the waxes. Synthetics will tend to last longer and provide more of a shiny surface without as much richness, due to the use of polymers and not as much oils. I prefer Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant, as it's the only sealant IMO that can provide the richness of a carnauba and the durability of a sealant - on top of that, it's extremely slick and easy to use.

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant delivers a deep, wet, liquid shimmer unlike anything you can imagine.

Many thanks,

You can gently and lightly apply a pure carnauba wax (WITH NO CLEANERS) over a synthetic for a layering effect, to get the best of both worlds. I would recommend using something like Pinnacle or P21S wax as they are extremely easy to use, and 100% pure with no cleaners. If you really want an extremely deep, wet look...Wolfgang Fuzion is the way to go, hands down.

Wolfgang Fuzion Estate Car Wax contains real carnauba wax and paint sealant polymers to protect paint. ultimate show car wax, auto wax, paste wax,

The Wolfgang Tire & Wheel Cleaner mentioned in the article is very safe for your wheels and very effective at getting them clean. Spray the wheels with the wheel cleaner and then you can use a mitt, spong or brush to agitate and loosen the break dust, then rinse the wheels thoroughly. I'm a big fan of the EZ Detail Brush to agitate the wheel cleaner. Once the wheels are clean, use DP Wheel Glaze to add a layer of protection and make future cleanings easier.

Yes but DP Xtreme works best, it was formulated to work with a foam gun.

I know, but the fact that DP Auto Bath Shampoo is BOGO makes it more tempting.

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

The regular DP soap does work well, but not like the Foam formula. However, don't let this stop you from taking advantage of an awesome deal. You'll always have a use for car wash shampoo, so you might as well take advantage of the current deal.

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

Hi Brothers,
After reading a lot of threads, I started to confuse between hazing and marring. I can't really tell what is marring and what is hazing. My own white car, repainted 1 years ago, is not so reflective nor clear when seeing directly over it although I usually wax it monthly. Today, even immediately after waxing, it's slick when viewing laterally and from certain angles but when seeing, for example, the bonnet by directly over it, my own image is not clear and shady. Is it hazing or marring or what?
Please help agian, brothers.

Thanks,
77

Depending on what caused the imprefections, it could be either one or a combination of both. The good news is that both types of problems can be corrected using the same products and techniques.

I would suggest either a PC 7424 or Flex 3401 polisher, light cutting pads, polishing pads, finishing pads and a light to moderate swirl remover followed by a finishing polish then wax or sealant. Wash, dry and clay first to make sure the paint is clean before polishing. For more information give us a call at 1-800-869-3011 ext 212 and Dwayne can help you out with specific product recommendations.
