Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

Does anyone have any advice on how to remove dirt/dust/grime accumulation from the interior roof fabric? I am thinking of renting a carpet cleaner with an upholstery attachment, but thought I'd get some other advice first.

Are you referring to a standard headliner or to the interior of a fabric convertible top?

With headliners you need to avoid saturation as it can weaken the adeisive that holds it up and cause it to start falling down. A wipe down with damp microfiber cloth is usually enough to clean it up without getting the material wet.

Haven't used Armor All in many years. I personally think they received a bad repuation back in the 80's when cars were made of cheaper materials that were prone to cracking anyway, regardless of the product that was used on them.

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

Got an intresting question.

I have ehh couple dozen microfiber rags now, I'm at the point where I need to wash them. 9/10 of them were only used in claybaring/wax removal, and light touch up. But a few were used to buff the RainX off the windshield or to get the glass squeaky clean. Is it safe to wash all of them together and reuse them? What concerns me is the RainX and Window Cleaner. I know it's recommended to use a NEW mf rag every time, but that can get ridiculous expensive really quick.

If you use a quality microfiber cleaning product you can wash all of the towels together. The only time I separate the mf towels is if they have a tire dressing type product. Otherwise, wash them all together, do not use bleach or fabric softener. Use low or no heat when drying.

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

Hi Jason.

I have two white cars. One's a 2007 4runner and the other's a 2009 MB E350.

The paint on the 4runner is in good condition, and I just clayed and applied Klasse AIO two weeks ago. The E350 is only a month old, and has a coat of Werkstatt Prime and two coats of AJT on it.

I just ordered some Finish Kare No. 1 New Car Glaze, 1000P and 425. Can I apply the New Car Glaze on top of the Werkstatt AJT on the E350, and apply the 1000P over it? How long do I have to let the New Car Glaze cure before I apply the 1000P?

Also, on the 4runner, can I go staright to 1000P over Klasse AIO or should I apply a few coats of KSG before applying the 1000P?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

Almost every thread about before and afters they use tape to mark off sections, is this just aesthetic for the pictures or does it serve a purpose?

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

was thinking... maybe you guys (AG) can come out with some smaller foam applicators that would fit inside the sampler pots (paste) and can also be used for trim areas that are smaller, where as the regular foam applicators are a tad too big to use...

one thing it does is to show the difference between the two sections so you can dial in a process (pads, products, etc) to duplicate on the rest of the car...
