Lake Country Glass Polishing Kit will get the job done. Lots of pressure and a rotary polisher or a very powerful drill will be necessary.

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

I fell for the Auto Armor add-on for my SAAB and wonder now how to still wax my car. Can I use a paint clearner and then apply my wax. I have Zymol wax and have yet to settle on a paint cleaner. It appears there are some swirl marks in the paint even with the Auto Armor. Is Auto Armor just a paint sealant or is there anything special I need to know about waxing when I have this on the car already. Any help appreciated. By the way, Love My SAAB.

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

Bill,

Your best bet would be to check out some of our how-to articles. Preferably the waxing and dual action polishing guides. You will likely need a dual action polisher to remove the swirls from your paint.

Auto Detailing Facts, auto detailing Tips, How to detailing Guides, how to polish, how to wax, DIY detailing, do it yourself guides

As far as the Auto Armor, it's usually nothing special - just a normal paint sealant. Any paint cleaner will strip it, and you can proceed with the wax/sealant of your choice.

Thanks, I really appreciate the advice. I see you have some good paint cleaners so I will study those. Thanks again!

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

I would say the Makita. It's a very well made and smooth running machine and it comes with a bag, some pads and a backing plate (must use 8.5 inch pads with the included plate)

Re: Ask the Autogeek! Question & Answer Thread

Hi Jason,

I just bought an '86 Porsche 911 Cab with a new, $$$$ repaint. The previous owner worked with the paint shop, sparing no expense using top-quality Glasurit paint. He also replaced all the little rubber bits and trim pieces.

In other words, it's awesome. No chips, no swirls. I have a 23-year-old car with a brand-new paint job.

Now, my question: the paint is White Gold Metallic. Light gold color. What products would you recommend to really make this color pop and keep the paint in tip-top shape?

Thanks!
