Zaino by machine?...Yes!!

Some friends were over today and they brought their cars (98 Vette, 2000 Mustang, 99 Camaro SS). I had been thinking of trying Zaino by machine for sometime to see what the results would be. So, with a lack of anything better to do I went for it. I mixed up 1oz of Z2 with ZFX and while that was sitting I preped the machine.

I put the black finishing pad on the PC and set the machine at 3. The product was applied to a cool surface (and I mean cool) in the shade with no direct sun. I put the Zaino on the pad in an "X" form, I wanted to use as much surface area of the pad as I could. I used very little if any pressure and the pad and product just seemed to glide over the surface. Zaino went on amazingly smooth by machine and very, very thin. When the spreadability got a little harder to deal with I would spray a light amount of Z6 on the pad as needed and everything was perfect again.

Here is the best part, I got 7 coats out of 1 ounce of Z!! Put 3 on the Vette, 3 on the Mustang and 1 on the Camaro. This stuff goes on so smooth and thin by machine it really is amazing, I was very impressed. It went on so thin that with ZFX the dry time was only about 5-7 minutes per coat. It buffed off soooo easy, there was no thin and thick areas like with hand application so removal was a breeze. I know Sal advocates application by hand, but Zaino by machine rules as well!

Give Zaino by machine a try, I think you will be impressed.

This guy advocates applying Zaino with an orbital as well...long before ZFX was available.

Hmmm, sounds fantastic! If my Meguiar's PC pads ever show up, I might give Zaino via PC a shot.

I used the stock white pad that came with my 7336 yesterday on another car with some Meguiar's #9, and before I did half the car, the pad was ruined and was separating from the backing plate. Now, I have to wait until the Meguiar's pads come in next week to even be able to use the machine.

YES!! Z works excellent with a PC..I got flamed pretty bad on another site when I posted my experience using the PC and Z..I used the PC on 1 and got very thin coats..sure beats foam applicators!!

Did you leave the PC at 3 the entire time or increase the speed towards the end of application?

I'm not sure what speed would be best for Z....maybe somewhere between 2 and 4??

I just used my PC for the 3rd time with Z today. I am hooked. I apply it at 2.5 - 3, figuring I am just using it for application.

I left it at 3 for the whole application, IMO speeds at 3 or lower are best for applying Z.

I just used my PC for the first time yesterday. I'll post my amazing results later.

That's what I was afraid of with the included pad...and since the backing plate is built into the pad itself, there's the chance that you could do some really good damage to your paint!

I have always used the pc to apply Zaino, I have better luck getting thin coats on with it. I spray the pad with a little z6 to start as it seems to spread the Z5/Z2 over the pad better.

I misted the pad with Z6 (not much) as needed to keep the application going smooth.

Good work Showroom. 7 coats with 1 ounces is amazing! You must have gotten those coats unbelievably thin!
