Best washes/shampoos?

Ok, I'm new here so be kind

Also, I did a search on this and couldn't come up with much, so I'm asking here.

I'm looking for a great shampoo that deep-cleans and won't harm the finish. I just bought an 8-oz. bottle of Sonus Car Shampoo, but I'm not going to use it yet because my car is dirtier than usual. There's a little bit of tar on the car and I've heard that the Sonus stuff is for cars that are fairly clean to begin with. I need something that will deep-clean and get the car ready to clay because that's what I'm planning on doing this weekend if the weather permits. Thanks guys/gals!

For situations like that I would just use an over-the-counter (OTC) shampoo mixed extra strong. A good one to have around is Mother's California Gold because it's really inexpensive but a comparatively high quality soap. It says one ounce per gallon, I think. When the car is super dirty I just do about 1.5-2 oz per gallon. I was using Pinnacle's shampoo for a while but when I run out, the only two I'll have in my inventory are Mother's CA Gold and Optimum No Rinse (ONR.)

Chemical Guys Citrus Wash N Gloss is what I'm currently using for deep cleaning and LSP removal. Great stuff if you want paint that is completely free of everything. The directions on the bottle will give you mixing information to use it as a safe every day wash, and also as a deep cleaning wash. I mix it a tad stronger than what it says.

But would it fit the bill for what the OP is looking for? He wants a "deep cleaning" car wash.

i dont know about "deep cleaning" car wash soap, but maybe you might wanna give 1Z's soaps a try. says that it'll clean dirt and grime without harming your lsp, if thats what youre looking for.

for myself though if i want to start off fresh and make sure that theres nothing on the surface, i use PB bug squash concentrate as a pre-wash/rinse. you can also try using P21S TAW. HTH

I've read that it can be pretty strong if you use more than the recommended dose. That being said, isn't NXT known for being a strong shampoo?

I've been very happy with NXT wash. It does seem pretty strong, as I've used it on some pretty dirty cars.

I wish the water restriction would let up and I could do a two bucket traditional wash. My foam gun has been sitting on the shelf for MONTHS.

at my local Advance i picked up a 64oz jug of Meg Gold Class for $7.58 out the door and they were running 20% off on Meg products if you bought 2 and you could mix and match. Duragloss is nice to but a gal of it was $20 and i cant find it at the local places anymore, or at least i havent seen any in the last 3-4 trips ive made.

If you're just going to up the concentration, imo, it'd be best to go with something cheap. I don't think there's anything that'll beat Mother's CA Gold. I got a 64 oz. jug for fewer than 2 dollars. I don't think it has any gloss conditioners in it but I mean, if you're just going to clay afterwards then it doesn't much matter.
