I like to use FK 425 after each wash
then about every third week use AW inplace of the 425

Dude, you sound like a saint - don't feel like a noob, I wish that I knew about this forum, or if it even existed when I was a wee little kinder. Learning the trade on my own, with all this misinformation bombarding me all the time. Just look at the "Best detailing advice" thread...

FK 425 is great. I just used it 30 mins ago. So slick and shinny.

Re: In between major details....

I have yet to find anything I love more than Menzerna High Gloss Acrylic Shield. It's very slick and definitely adds to the shine. I love the secure feeling it gives me when I use it. I used to apply it solely every 3 weeks, and the paint beaded like crazy between applications (thx as well to Duragloss TP at detailing time). However, I realized I still needed a QD to finish off the car every car wash, so I use Eimann Fabrik Clear Pearl II on the panels and wheels, it does a very nice job, and I don't feel bad spraying it like crazy cause it's much much cheaper than the Menz. I don't really care how "good" the Eimann Fabrik spray is, which it is, because on the third wash, I still apply the Menz.

Re: In between major details....

I'm gonna go against the grain a bit...

A Quick Detail is kindof the poor mans (or lazy mans) car wash. It is really only intended to 'dust' off the car and can't really 'wash' - no one here would do a QD if there was any real grit on the ride!
So if you have a good LSP on there and you wash 'n dry properly, you really don't "need" to top with anything... but you "can".

For instance, I'm currently having a "Duragloss period". I'm liking there products AND their pricing. So my LSP right now is Duragloss TPP 105. I typically wash with ONR (love the stuff) and even though ONR leaves a nice shine, I will ocassionaly top with Duragloass Aquawax for some extra shine punch AND protection. You might have to experiment to see what, if any topper works well in your situation.

Be careful with some QD sprays - not all are created equal and in some cases they won't protect the finish very well if there's grit in the mix.

IMO most of use a QD (like 425) after the wash(not as the wash)
for several reasons the lubricity helps to dry with out scratching
the anti -stadic helps with the dust

and anyone who has ever used it can tell you the slickness & gloss
from 425 are great

sounds like you should give it a try(or FC&S since you are on a duragloss kick)

Admitedly I've never used FK 425, although I have used other QD sprays and some that weren't much more than scented water. I guess I was coming form a place that if you had a good LSP and did a decent wash 'n dry, what purpose would a QD serve. A topper spray 'wax' would seem to make more sense.
(In my case I wash my ride with ONR at QD+ strength (8oz/gal) - using some other QD spray would make no sense at all!)

I was thinking about it and was about to edit my post because you use ONR

ONR has a lot of the same propertys as 425
lube to help wile you dry
and also adds slickness & gloss

so I agree that it does not make as much sense since you use ONR

Re: In between major details....

After each wash I blow off most of the water and use a QD while I dry. I usually use FK425 on the vehicles that have sealants, and Griot's SpeedShine on the ones that have wax.

But I do like UGE and UPP Spray on the UPPed S8.
