Detailing supply recommendations (need help)

Before I placed my spring order I just wanted some others input on the best products in addition to looking over my current methods. I have done countless hours of research on the "best" products however people have different opinions and I am now confused .

Wax
I currently use klasse sealant glaze and top it with the premium red worlds best wax (i am about to run out worlds best).
- What is the best carnuba to put over my klasse sealant?
- I have heard so much about zaino - should i make the switch?
- also i need a good detailing spray or spray wax - have no idea which one is best and how often to apply

Polish
-I am currently using menzerna SIP and p106ff and am 100% happy

Clay
- I plan to purchase the delicate sonus green clay and lube i found clay magic blue too harsh.

Soap
- Very confused here...i plan to buy a foam gun and would like recommendations on the best soap to use with my two bucket method and foam gun.
- i have been using meguiars NXT and automagic bulk soap

lastly my procedure is as follows:
- wash
- clay
- (should i use some sort of cleaner or prewax clenser in this step)
- polish
- sealant
- Carnuba wax

Thanks very much for any input...i want to take my autopian standards even higher than ever before this summer!

How about trying Ultima PGP with DWG topped with Ultima PGP. You might well be done with the other solutions.

Optimum and Adam's rock. Ultima realy doesn't.

They are both amazing!!

Clay

Pinnacle is awesome. I liked it better than the Sonus.

lastly my procedure is as follows:
- wash
- clay
- (should i use some sort of cleaner or prewax clenser in this step)
- polish
- sealant
- Carnuba wax Not required with the Ultima PGP and DWG setup. (IMHO)

Sounds like you pretty much have it nailed anyhow!

Hope my comments help.

about the zaino- if your curious, why not try it. a bottle of z5 is like $16 and you could get rid of it fast on autopia if you dont like it.
as for the foam gun, i use megs gold class in mine and its ok but the most foam ive ever got was out of dp soap (this is out of a garden hose mind you)

Wax/Sealant
I prefer sealants. Go with Jeff's Werkstatt Acrylic Jett, Zaino Z-2 or 5, Duragloss 105 or 111, or Ultima Paint Guard Plus. All of these products are very good. Also all come with a pre-cleaner/AIO which is recommended to use before putting down the sealant. For Jeff's it is Prime or Prime Strong, Zaino is Z-AIO, Duragloss is 101 and for Ultima is Ultima Paint Prep Plus.

QD
If you want a good quick detailer or a spray wax, you can just get Duragloss's brands right off the shelf at Napa or Carquest. Duragloss's QD is 921 Fast, Clean and Shine their spray wax is 951 Aquawax. If you decide to go with Zaino, includ Z-6 and Z-8 in your order, they are very good.

Polish
Menzerna SIP and 106ff are outstanding. If you have really soft paint you MAY want to consider using 3M Ultrafina rather than 106ff. If your paint is normal or hard, 106ff would probably be a better choice.

Clay
Sonus Green Clay is fine so long as your paint is not too contaminated, then you would have to step up to a harsher clay or spend more time claying with the Sonus Green Clay and use it up more.

Soap
A wonderful soap you can most likely purchase at Napa or Carquest would be Duragloss 901 (16oz I think) or 902 (gallon). If you order from Zaino, throw in some Z-7 with your order. If you order the Ultima Paint Guard Plus, give the Ultima wash a try.

Whether or not to use a paint cleaner before polishing depends on who you ask. I have some Sonus Paint Cleaner and I like to use it after washing an claying and before polishing to just get a good deep clean before polishing. Many people here will say I am wasting my time - to each their own.

Re: Detailing supply recommendations (need help)

I think i am going to go big for my black paint and pick up the Pinnacle Souverän wax. What would be the best soap to maintain this wax?

Take your pick: Ultima Paint Wash Plus, Poorboys Super Slick and Suds, Duragloss 901 or 902, Optimum Wash, Zaino Z-7. I am sure there are others I am forgeting but all of those are great. The Duragloss may be able to be purchased locally if you live near a Napa or Carquest.

Re: Detailing supply recommendations (need help)

All good products mentioned and all will give nice results. I like Z2 or Z5 topped with Z8 for a sealant - nice look and lasts a long time. I also started using DWG under the Zaino and it adds a nice wetness to the look.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

There isn't that much difference between dishwashing detergent and car wash. The same sodium laureth sulfate (sulfonic acid and salt), Cocoamido (coconut derivate) and a few other ingredients.

I think a car wash now should be made from nothing but plant based surfactants and Quick detailer sprays (FC&S and Aquawax work great in car wash formula's)
