Another stupid clay question!

So I have almost everything I need to have the perfect detailing experience, except a PC, which I should hopefully have in a few weeks.

So now I am to the point where I making sure I know how to do everything and this includes claying. My questions are these. How much pressure do you apply when moving the clay across the car? I mean do you just move the bar along with the smallest amount of pressure or do you actually apply downward pressure on the bar. I have the mothers kit and t comes with one bar. Do you actually use the whole thing or break the bar into three's or something and use that. According to the booklet, one bar lasts for like 3-4 applications. I also have a question about application of the QD. Let's say I want to do the hood. Do I spray the entire hood with this stuff until it is dripping of the car then go to work? When I'm all done with the claying the car, am I assuming currectly that the car should be washed again before heading to the next steps? Oh yeah, I almost forgot, lets say I have a stubborn piece of "schmutz" on the car that won't come off by very gently rolling th eclay over it, should I just leave it and try to to get it clean when I wash again, or do I try to scrub it out with the clay.

Break the clay bar in half. Just use one half at a time. No need to use the whole thing because this way you will have a fresh piece for later.

Don't spray the whole car down at once. Clay lube tends to evaporate pretty quick. Just spray the area that you are going to work on. Think of your car in 1/4s or even 1/8s. Just do one section at a time. The clay should just glide across your paint. Do one section and then feel behind it. You'll notice that it becomes glass smooth almost instantly. Not much pressure is required at all. Nearly none in fact. You can follow up the clay with a towel and wipe off the lube or you can just wait till you are all finished and rewash the car (that's what I do).

You are going to like clay. It is really simple to use. Practice on your back bumper and see how you like it. You'll notice a huge difference right away. Good choice with the Mother's clay too. That's good stuff.

Great! Thanks for the advice! Combining clay, SMR, and Klasse, I am expecting great things here! If it comes out really well, maybe I will post some before and after pics. How hard is it to post pics here?

Not too hard actually. If you have them hosted somewhere then you just paste the link between the [img] tags and you're all set. If you want to upload it to the forum then you can do it that way too as long as its the right size. I don't remember off the top of my head but just size it so its 500 pixles wide and you'll be fine.
