After reading up on products I've decided to invest in some quality microfiber cloths to use in place of my Walmart big bag o' microfiber. I'm trying to figure out what kind of microfiber will give me the broadest use and how many I should get.
In my cart on Autopia right now is
2 Der Wunder drying towels
4 Der Wunder polishing towels
2 Der Wunder buffing towels
4 Der Wunder applicators
1 Genuine Wool wash mitt
Is this enough to get me through washing a compact (Mazda3)? Did I pick the right kind? I always thought microfiber was microfiber but it looks like I was wrong.

You might want to check out a Home Depot Grout Sponge too. Their all the rave right now & they only cost $2! Or, for couple more $, you could have the latest & greatest Grout Sponge ShMiTT (very nice).

also on top of the wool mitt, give the HD or Lowes GS a try. if you don't like it, you can deligate them to rims/wheels, and it will cost you a whole $2 LOL...

I usually use an Absorber to dry. I don't have a leaf blower to blow dry yet. Any good applicator pads at Target? I don't want to cause any new scratches while I wait for my Bday to have my car detailed.

| Then highly suggest you ditch that Absorber.......

I find that most foam and/or MF wax applicators work just fine. I tend to stay away from the cotton ones. I think target has them, I can't remember. I'll PM you some links to applicator designs.

I also received this from excel detail for drying my car. Very soft, and can't wait to try it! Pacific Waffle Weave Drying Towel 25x36

Agree. That towel also works great on windows and for interior wipe downs. All the Sonus Towels are great, I have all of them. And yes, do try that GS from Lowes.

I also have a Meg's white detailing towel that is just as good. I jsut got home from Target with four pack of towels that have blue stripes on them. They look like beach towels and kind of goofy actually, but I thought I would give them a try. My favorite drying towel is the waffle weave I got from AutoZone. It is one thin bugger but does a great job.
I would love to go with that Der Wunder order, is there anything worse than polishing your car to perfection only to wipe off that last little bit of wax and leave a big arch from your towel. That will not happen with the Der Wunder
