After using Meguiars Insane Shine for two weeks now, i'll post up what I think:

The first application I did, was truly "insane" as the name suggests. This is the first time this particular set of tires has seen a mass-produced tire shine from an aerosol can!! I normally use a water-based dressing, bought in gallon jugs at my local wholesale auto detail supply.

I now remember why I didn't like these dressings in an aerosol can. After two weeks (and only one light rain), the shine is gone but there is a residue stuck to the tire. Like if you wipe a finger on the sidewall, your finger will look as if you just wiped a greasy black paint.

I just applied it for the second time and it doesn't look nearly as good as the first. I think I have to wipe the black sludge off the tires before reapplying!

After thinly covering a set of four tires, twice now, the can seems half empty already. I anticipate maybe three or four more car washes and the can will be empty.

Keep in mind that this is on 31" mud terrain tires on my SUV, which is a larger sidewall surface than the average passenger car. Also the car is driven daily, but we only had one light rain during the initial two weeks.

Ill probably go back to water based dressing because I like how clean it is after just spraying water on the tires. I think that i'm going to have to take a rag and wipe the black Megiars sludge off to get a good coverage now!!!

that's why i like water based dressings (easy to clean and gives plenty of shine)...

I saw some pictures in this thread, and the tires have a greasy/oily look - do you like such shine? It looks unnatural to me... I prefer a deep black, but with no greasy/oily look.

Yeah, im switching back to the bulk water based stuff from detail supply outlet. The tire stays clean, and washes right off with water. The insane shine works but attracts too much dirt for my liking.

I use a water based generic that i buy by the gallon. Its versatile, in that it can be diluted and used for tires, trim, engine compartments, wheel wells, door sills, roof racks, rubber seals.

Ok here is what I have so far; I took some before and afters of the Seq and Suby so I can get a long-term comparison between NXT "Insane" CG's "NRT" and 303 Protectant. Sorry for some of the pics, the weather was windy and mostly cloudy so I'd get some of bright sun then some of complete overcast but I believe these represent what I'm trying to show...
Oh and I did the left side with 303 (no pics because the lighting was gone)

As mentioned before "Wow" on the gloss of the Insane, not my thing but I know guys that want more bling on their tires. We'll see how they hold up over this week.
Initial thoughts after application A. after applying NXT to the right side of the Seq and the left side of the Suby, I'd say I'm down to a half can, maybe less. Not sure how cost effective this product is going to be at 8 bucks a can. B. This stuff is like wet paint, just walking by in the yard blew grass up onto the tires that immediately stuck to it. I'm betting its going to get caked with dirt from driving.

FYI, my Suby is my daily driver (50 miles a day x 5 = 250miles) the Sequoia might see 100-150 miles in a week depending on how many errands my wife runs.

Well any generic tire dressing from your local professional auto detail supply will do, as long as its water based. Professional shops sell good stuff.

Pep-boys is NOT a good detail supply place, nor are its competitors. Those types of places are for novices and their supplies are NOT quality.

Personally, I use "V6 dressing" from my local detail supply outlet.

It's great on plastic trims, tires, etc

Hardly. Pep Boys sells quality products (along with the crap). I suspect Vinylex, for example, is a better product than that you have pictured.

Just one example - Have you ever heard of a mechanic getting his parts from Pepboys??? hahaha i hope not!! They use carquest, napa, autozone, worldwide, etc. A professional mechanic would have to be retarded to even consider pepboys for auto parts.

Another example, those hilarious chinese ATV's and golf carts!!

Luckily, you cant go terribly wrong with OTC detail products at these stores (I personally like the Megiuars leather wipes, and NXT) but the bad items greatly outnumber the decent there. The biggest thing is, the cost for amount you get there is terrible!!! Example: $5 or $6 per aerosol can to do 5-10 sets of tires ~ VS ~ $15 a gallon of bulk dressing to do 150+ sets of tires (and way cleaner while you're at it)
