Cleaning pad during detail??

Do most of you all clean your pads during the detail? I have only 2 orange pads and I'm sure they will get pretty nasty. I have some danase pad cleaner but it requires a warm water soak. So what do you all do?

Re: Cleaning pad during detail??

Yup, I only have two as well. I just run them under a sink and rub my hand over it back and forth until the "caking" is gone.

Re: Cleaning pad during detail??

I myself used to just spray the pad with APC and run it under hot water and then spin it at 6 on my porter cable. Get's it dry fast.

Re: Cleaning pad during detail??

I just ended up purchasing more pads and clean them all later in my sanitary tub. Soft bristle brush and some warm water works great IMO.

haven't found anything that cleans pads better than dawn power dissolver, and can be found for a few bucks at your local walmart... http://autopia.org/forum/detailing-p...ower+dissolver

Re: Cleaning pad during detail??

little bit of APC in your wash bucket while you use the 2nd one...just rotate them...should be using 2-3 per car from a cutting pad, and one for a polishing job, maybe two...light polishes dont cake up like compounds do

Re: Cleaning pad during detail??

If I'm in the middle of a detail and I don't want to change to another pad, I wipe the dirty pad off with a terry towel. Of course this is best when it's just caked up with excess polish, not if it's really dirty.

Re: Cleaning pad during detail??

I have a brush that I use to wipe the pad off with after every pass. I also dont put the polish on my pad so it does not get caked with polish. I also have multiple pads.
