Re: I just ordered Vintage
I've actually tried the by hand vs applicator thing since I see a lot of people mention that you save wax with an applicator. I just don't see it. Maybe I am doing something differently, but it seems like I use the same amount regardless.

Re: I just ordered Vintage
the only thing I can see contributing to using less with an applicator vs hand is the fact that sometimes you can put a bit more pressure on the pad to 'squeeze' (if you will) some product out.

Re: I just ordered Vintage
Did you get it yet?
About the online comparison: Realize that by itself you cannot realistically determine how well products will compete against each other. I remember a similar comparison done online between Zaino and a Zymol. Personally although its good for curiosity, I would think that the comparison would not be equal. If a $1200 or $7000 (staying out of that Solaris debacle.......anyways) beats a $15, then how would that really be considered apples vs. apples, since the mega buck wax would (should) have attributes that are different than the significantly lower priced brand.
But veering back to the topic; I can't wait to see your results Mike!

Oh come on, lets hear what you really think about solaris. I presonally find it ridiculous, a GOLDEN SPOON hahahahaha!
Oh and about the bare hand application, the reason I say you use more with bare hands is only because it goes on thinner with an applicator, not because it sticks to your hands or anything else.
To those of you who own bare hand waxes, try applying it on half of your hood with bare hands, and the other half with a microfiber applicator. Observe the difference in how thin the coats are.
But like I said, there are some waxes where I do still use the bare hand method even if it uses more product and is more work to remove (due to a thicker coat). On top of that while you are doing it you feel like you are really pampering the finish.

Oh, Ok.
Also, like you said, with the free refills, it becomes a moot point anyway.

OK but you're not gonna like it. You guys may know where I stand with zymol waxes in general, but....
Their prices have been an issue with me all along (even when I was a staunch critic of them.........yes I was like a lot of you all that said they were bogus). I think that the price is outrageous for Solaris, but again that's giving them the benefit of the doubt that I know nothing of it other than the advertisement.
If this is some freak scientific break-through (like bionics........they cost "millions of dollars") then I can see perhaps a little mark-up. I am afraid that this product is priced out of any competitive market, and only the very rich or very eccentric and rich would be able to afford it. Granted their only making 25 units of it, and if they're doing it to make a statement or be noticed, then that's one heck of an attention grabber.
Their waxes are phenomenal, but I hope Zymol will one day come off of the "one only" thought process and get back into making serious waxes. The rest of their product line is still top notch (and expensive), however.
Happy Birthday Mike. Let me know when your block of ice arrives!!!!! Go figure I have my own........lol!!!
Edit: Like Mike stated, the bare hand method requires a "getting used to." It is very effective in applying the compound when its done right.

Re: I just ordered Vintage
I have a pulled mucle in my shoulder. So my Vintage goes on via UDM and the softest pad available. The wax quikly liqifies as the heat from the pad melts the wax. I personally can not tell the difference between hand & UDM applicaton. Gie me some feedback!
