I debated it for a while but in the end decided not to.

My reason was just because there were other things I would rather spend the dough on. I love detailing as a hobby. And I really enjoy trying all the cool waxes and sealants.

Although now I'm pretty much just using Zaino. (I still have TONS of other stuff... Jeffs, Poorboy's, Meguiars, Pinnacle, Clearkote... etc.)

Anyway I think it would be really cool to have something that high end just to have it and play with it. But ultimately, for me, it came down to what I wanted for the money.

In the end it's a wax. Will it be the greatest wax on earth? I don't know. But that wasn't why I was debating buying it. I was debating because of the cool factor and the fun of having it and trying it. I would suspect many others feel the same.

But that said... if I could get it for cheaper I would

I dont think I have ever heard of it described better. I think thats the reason many people buy vintage. I know its why i bought it.

To me, there's alot more than 1800 bucks in value to Vintage. I know it's hard to believe, but it's true.

My cars are long-term, large capital expenditures. I keep them a long, long time. I also keep them in better than show room new condition. I believe that helps alot in resale value when it comes time to sell them.

Vintage allows me to take much better care of my car's finish than what I would normally be able to do. I am able to wash my car using a completely touch free (read: completely swirl, mar, RIDS free) process thanks to Vintage. This prevents me from having to polish them (and remove more clear coat) as often as I would other wise need to. Since no contaminants seem to stick to Vintage, it also has prevented me from damaging my car finishes from tar, tree sap, water spots, bird bombs and bug goo. Whenever I get any of those contaminants on my car, I do a touch free wash job, and it comes off. I have zero bug etchings, water spot craters, bird bomb craters, etc. on either of my cars. And as long as I keep up on the Vintage applications, i never will.

Never again will my cars see *any* swirls, mars, water spot etching, bird bomb etching, tree sap marks, tar removal marring, or pretty much any environmental or washing based damage again. Price of admission? 1800 bucks. And that amount covers all the cars I currently own, and any I might own in the future. Cheap in the grand scheme of things. (Yeah, I know I have to pay for shipping on refills, but I don't care.)

I'm fairly certain that once I do one final correction on the Charger, to get rid of the dealer wash instilled swirls, marring, and RIDS, I'll never have to put a polishing pad on it ever again. That's pretty cool to think about.

And the wife's Sequoia is still just as perfect as the day I last corrected it. I haven't had to put one finger on the paint. Nothing but completely touch free washes since then. Not one thing.. not *any* type of wash media.. nothing.. nada.. zilch.. has touched it since, and nothiing will ever need to again.

Swirl free, mar free, shiny, perfect car finishes for as long as I own em. Yup, 1800 bucks was *cheap*.

That's kinda wishful thinking isn't it? I could think of a plethora of things that could happen to ruin your car, well not by you, but a lot of people out there are just not as attentive or just flat-out jerks and they could ruin your car's perfect finish. But I guess that's what insurance is for? Just putting that out there.

As good as concours is, there is a definite difference between it and Vintage. I'll let you find it out yourself.

Edit: I stayed away from debating about the value of/or not purchasing Vintage, as it seemed that the consensus of this thread was that it is an excellent wax, and how much we are happy for Mike in his purchase. However, this wouldn't really feel like a Zymol thread without a few detractors. Its nice, though, that there were only a couple in this thread.

As I've said in the past, you cannot determine the worth of Vintage or any product without first trying the lsp out and doing a very thorough comparison. There have been some that have claimed to have tried Zymol and were not satisfied in its results. That is a perfectly acceptable position if in fact a Zymol did not produce a result as it may have been expected.

On the other hand, as a few of us have stated, the results of Vintage, in the opinion of a few, have been nothing short of astounding.

In the end, you won't really know how good Vintage is or any zymol is without experiencing it for yourself. You cannot truthfully say (or believe) that a $25 (or any other lsp for that matter) can be as good as Vintage without a comparison experience.

I can say, based on my experience, that I've yet to see other products (with the mild exception of perhaps one or two of the up and coming exotics, giving *benefit of the doubt* status, and a few high caliber Zymols) approach the dynamic range that Vintage has produced for me in person.

When you say you mist with cold water, you mean after removing vintage "with dry MF
towel" after buffing off; you go again at the finish with a new MF and a chilled water "distilled water is best”?
After that a second coat and so on…

Um, I'm not saying that the skate punks at the local rec center are going to say "OMG, that thing's covered in Vintage, we better not go key the hood again!". Or the lady with the minivan and the twenty kids is gonna say, "Oh, kids, lookout! That thing's covered in Vintage! Make sure you don't pound his car when you wildly throw open your doors!" Uh, no MikeWinLDS, I'm not that naive. I'm saying that any damage caused by normal environment issues (the ones specifically stated), or by washing are a thing of the past. Wishful thinking?
