A few edge 2000 questions
I have the edge 2000 adapter and the 8" blue and green waffle pads.
I have used them exactly 1 time, and am a rotary newb, so I'm not sure if I would prefer something else or not.
Question 1 - how do you clean a waffle pad? I see everything refers to spinning the pad and applying the toothbrush kind of scrubber, but I can't imagine this would work well with a waffle pad. Do you just scrub it while it is stationary I guess? How often does this need to be done, for example on a car with only light swirling? Just after you are done, or after each panel or something?
Question 2 - I definitely reduced the swirls and got a better shine to the finish, but ended up with some holograms. I didn't spend much time on it but I'm not sure I can really finish it down that great with the blue waffle. I'm wondering if a waffle is just not suitable for finishing because of all of the leading edges (each bump), or if it is just my lack of skill or inappropriate product selection.
Question 3 - why do the edge 2k 6" pads all say they are for DA machines? Can I buy/use these on my rotary, or are they somehow inappropriate for this? Will the moderate RPMs (I go up to about 1200) throw it apart or something? I think I may enjoy finishing with a 6". Does a 4" pad even exist for edge 2k for those tighter areas? I can't find one. It would be great if there was an Edge website so I could find a full product offering and not just have to search every detailing retailer I can find.
I think the concave pads look interesting for avoiding a specific edge to bite into the paint a bit (perhaps only matters when not *perfectly* flat), it seems to me those may help reduce holograms. I'm tempted to try something like this but I really like how the Edge setup gives me a perfectly centered pad every time.
