Hello everyone. To start, I would like to say that I recently purchased some 8 inch Edge 2000 wool pads (black, yellow, and green). I typically use the entire line of 6 inch Edge 2000 foam pads, but, these huge wool pads make the rotary so much more stable and easier to control! Is it due to the huge size of the pad that makes the rotary so much more stable?

Does this mean that if I purchase the 8 inch Edge 2000 foam pads I will be enjoying the added stability that the 8 inch wool pads offer me, or is the wool texture adding to the stability of the machine?

Many have talked about a technique where you start at a low speed, about 600 rpms with the rotary, do a couple of passes, go to a speed of 1200-1500rpm, then go back down to 600 rpm's after a while...At very low speeds, all of my pads, wool and foam, seem somewhat unstable, but once I increase the speeds, the pads become much, much more stable. Is this typical as well?

With my wool pads, many have suggested to clean the pads with just a pad spur...are there any more effective ways of cleaning wool pads w/o deteriorating their performance (I am scared to introduce them to water)?

Some MENZERNA talk (I have the entire line of the old Optimum line of polishes, and PS and OS):
I've been interested in purchasing some SIP and 106FF. Problem is, I hear 106FF does not like the Edge 2000 blue pad. Autogeek.net suggests using the white Edge 2000 foam pad, and not the blue. Has anyone tried this with better improvements?

Would the LC CCS foam pads be a better match with the Menzerna line of polishes?

Would the Edge 2000 wool pads work nicely with the Menzerna line of polishes?

One aspect of the Optimum line of polishes that I picked-up from Scottwax was to not remove the polish residue from OC or OHC, and just go over the residue with OP and a finishing pad. This saves me time and still produces a great finish, but can I do this with the Menzerna line of polishes as well?

Well as far as the wool pads and such go.... Wash them. there's just no better way and thousands and thousands of detailers do it. Don't worry about it. You can air dry them if you want but definatly wash them.

As far as technique goes. Just use your machine. Understand how it acts and what it's little quirks are. I personally use mine around 1400rpms all the time. My trigger is variable though. So I can feather it around moldings and such.

As far as your products go can't really help you out there. I tend to stay away from over the counter products. Mainly due to quanity. I tend to buy in gallon incriments. So I deal with a supplier rather than an autozone or equivilent. I will say for boats I like the megs line of product.

Anyone else want to take a shot at my Menzerna questions?

SIP does not work well with the Blue or White Edge Pads. I use 106FF with LC White pad.

When I use wool I use Presta polishes. UCCL and 1500 work so nicely that I haven't even tried anything else.

I toss my pads in an ordinary washer with tide. Been doing it like that since 94' and I've never had any issues ever with a pad breaking down on me. If your dryer setting is to high they do tend to warp a bit. But once you put it on your backing plate they mold right back into shape. These are wools pads. Foam pads I just toss in a sink of warm water and dish soap and let soak.

Kapinnn...Which LC white pad do you use...the CCS ones? Heck, does it even matter as long as they are manufactured from Lake Country and they are white! Also, would you consider the Presta polishes to be fast-acting (if you can compare to the Optimum line of polishes, that would be great)?
