Am I doing something wrong with P0106ff

Just tried using Menzerna P0106ff last night and wasn't very impressed with the results. Did I do something wrong? I was using it on a 2005 black Infiniti G35, I started by trying IP with an orange LC pad. This didn't work very good but i've never really liked IP. I then switched over to P0106ff, with an orange pad. I lightly misted the pad and applied 3 or 4 drops of polish onto the pad. I spread the polish onto the panel with the pc on 3 and then went up to 5 or 6 until the polish was almost dry and then i removed the polish with a damp mf. After this i did the same process a green lc pad. The paint was shinier after I was done but it didn't touch any of the scratches or swirls? What did I do wrong? Another problem i had was with the polish splattering everywhere. I don't think i was using too much polish.

106FF is a finishing polish and doesn't have much cut. Since it's formulated for tougher clear coat, it'll cut faster, finer, but not deeper.

I've found that IP will work perfectly for spider webbing and surface swirls but anything deeper than that you'll either need to use something more aggressive or go at it 3-4 passes.

Are you sure you are not reinstilling swirls? Don't use orange pad, try SIP or IP with green pad and then 106FF with white pad.

I use 106FF almost exclusively with a finish pad on PC, although I have used it with more agressive pads to get a little more bite out of it. If I had to do more major correcting I use OC or OHC.

Yeah bro, you're just using it with the wrong pad. It's a final finish polish and should be used with a white pad or even a finishing pad. It should be used to get rid of buffer trails/micromarring, for swirls you'd need a more aggressive polish, something with more cut to it.

You either have to try more passes or move products. I think your (orange) pad is fine, just move up to IP or SIP to remove the scratches.

I use 106 on white pad using a Metabo and that works wonders on scratches, then leaves a high gloss finish. Do you have a rotary?

I actually did try IP with an orange pad without much success. All it looked like it did was has make the finish hazy.

Do you have any other polishes besides IP and 106FF?

How fast were you moving the machine? Try going slower 1-2sec per inch with 15-25lbs of pressure. If you tried that, you may have to move up in product. Do you have pics of the said swirls/scratches?

Re: Am I doing something wrong with P0106ff

IP and 106ff are the only polishes I have. I was under the impression that IP was fairly strong. Is this incorrect.

Re: Am I doing something wrong with P0106ff

I bet it's as strong as a polish goes before being called a compound.

For swirls it's worked wonders for me. Absolutely murdered swirls in almost no time. I was using a UDM at speed 6 with the most aggressive DASII pad, which no doubt helped.

Re: Am I doing something wrong with P0106ff

everytime I've used FP2 with the green german pad I've gotten hollogramming(by rotary). I think a smaller pore pattern pad would work better even with a PC.
