Re: DuPont ION

Dood, it's energized, it's got to be good! Can't you see the lightning?

Seriously, yeah it does look like a marketing strikes back answer to ICE. I haven't even seen this stuff at the store though, it looks like body wash...

Re: DuPont ION

They are all just answers to NXT which is an answer to every other sealant out there. Consumer grade sealant products aren't typically stellar in their performance, but they are usually better than the wax products out there on the shelf.

Re: DuPont ION

NXT is ok, just doesn't last long. If you wanted a good OTC sealer, Megs 21 is better - if you wanted to stick with Megs.

Re: DuPont ION

I have not seen these in stores yet. They are Free After Rebate. Anything FREE is worth 1 try -- then give to family member as a great gesture....

Re: DuPont ION

Wanna know something interesting??

This line of products is a joint venture with Tenneco (Mfg of Shocks/Struts = Monroe, Rancho, and Xxhaust = Walker Gillet, Walker, Quiet-Flow DynoMax) And Dupont. Look at the back of the bottle in fine print.

Extensive testing was done using body panels (half one product / half another) I saw them first hand and these products do well when compared to other VERY OTC products (not DG or stuff like that)

Tenneco wanted to get into the replenishable auto product arena so the approached Dupont for a JV... They are also getting into the Brake Pad / Brake Shoe / Oil Filter Biz.

Anyhow, just a lil bit o' info.

EDIT: I don't use this product BUT, they are good for the avg joe schmoe..

To give you the illusion your car got polished. You can use this product and go brag to your friend that just got a $300 detail done. "Look at me, I got my car polished with DuPont Ion for free after rebate!"

Sounds like a great product...

...NOT!

THIS IS NOT A POLISH OR WAX OR SEALANT!

Call Dupoint, they will tell you it's just for anti-static properties. It offers no protection, they basically say to use Dupont Teflon wax first and then top it with Dupont ION to prevent dust from sticking.

I used it and I can say it offers no protection, and doesnt work as well as using a real sealant which would anti-static anyway.

this stuff doesnt last long, a week or so, and I have long since thrown it out (it was free after rebate)

atleast ICE protects *but attracts dust*
