Makita dual mode polisher

Anybody ever used this machine? It looks like a nice machine to have since it can operate as a DA polisher as well as a rotary. The main drawback I can see is that the backing plate cant be changed out, but besides that it looks like the ultimate detailing machine.

Makita Two Mode Polisher

Any input on this machine would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Variable speed 1,600-5,800 OPM; 180-670RPM

After reading those specs, it doesn't look like it would be a good rotary. 670 rpm won't do much.

Re: Makita dual mode polisher

There has been a number of discussions about it, and similar products, both here and on other forums. It goes in category Festool goes in. Based on specs it does not seem to be as powerfull as Festool. I will know how powerfull Festool is after this weekend.
