Homemade 5" backplate

Yesterday when I was preparing to leave for my detail job for the day, I realized that I had some 5.5" white LC low profile pads but didn't have a backing plate to use them with. I then remembered that I had two backing plates for the 6.5" pads so I picked the one that looked like I could cut it down easier and this is what I ended up with.

Fits the pads perfectly too! Now I can start ordering more 5.5" pads! I got these white ones with my order of XMT 360 from AG, the foam they used is a bit more dense than the 7.5" white LC VC pad I have, and the full width velcro gave a nice sturdy feel to it. Very nice pads indeed.

I got it perfectly cut on the first try too, to my surprise.

Re: Homemade 5" backplate

I only had to cut off like 1/4" too. I was kind of hesitant to do this not knowing if the bp would fall apart or something, look raggedy, but aside from a couple areas where the cut isn't as smooth as I'd prefer, it came out pretty good and is just as solid and sturdy as before it was cut.
