Now for the past couple months I've been using Pinnacle's Poly Ultra clay and I've been buying it buy the pound from Autogeek... Here is the link Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay is our ultra fine grade of detailing clay, designed for frequent, gentle cleaning of your vehicle.
Not only is it expensive, but after using this clay for a while now, it seems that its really fine and it has some trouble taking out heavier spots. For example, I just clayed a section of my Dad's WHITE Toyota Tundra, and I wasn't able to get all of the black specs off, and I was wondering if it was just because it may be very fine grade clay????
So my main question, is where do you guys purchase clay from, and where can I buy it in similar amounts (4 bars)??? I also wanted to know if the different grades of clay really mattered, or if harsher grades will actually mar the paint?
It just always seems like I have everything else but clay, and I wanted to stock up on some cheap, but effective clay. Any help would be appreciated!

There is a guy on there that has a ebay store, selling detailing stuff and has clay(re-dyed and re-labeled clay magic i think) , its like a purplish color. 5 200 gram bars for like 28 bucks shipped to your door. Good stuff too, i got some. Its a medium grade clay, works good on white paint for fallout and raildust.
*edit*
Heres a link to one of his auctions. Its 40 now shipped to your door for 5 of the 200 gram bars which is still a heck of a deal. He also has auctions for single bars, 3,5,10 and 50. If you use alot of clay then buy 50 of them at one time brings the cost way way down. eBay Motors: Auto Detailing - (5) 200 Gram Medium Grade Clay Bars (item 230124158364 end time May-07-07 09:57:50 PDT)

How can you say that the clay on ebay is generally cheap and also say that you haven't used it before? If you have no experince with the product how in the world can you give out advice on it?

Cheapest good clay I have been able to find is at "Autozone", $10.00 for clay bar and lubricant.

I never told the OP not to buy the ebay clay, I'm just saying that I've heard from other autopians that they haven't been successful with ebay clay. I wasn't telling the OP not to buy it. Sorry if I offended you.

the purple stuff from ebay is a good buy, but again, you need to polish after for sure, and the purple tends to dry out rather quickly and fall apart when using car soap as a lube...I dont know about useing a QD or ONR as the lube...
i have tried both - and I like the sonus grey for major decon, and megs blue to minor stuff

My problem is, I have a whole bottle of Meg's QD, but could use new clay, and was wondering if there was a better way to buy it than the $11 clay magic kit that has QD I don't need.
