Anyone tried Dupont Ion Polish?

I saw this new product called Dupont Ion. It comes in either a liquid or spray form. Has anyone tried it yet, if you have what do you think of it? You can actually get it for free after a rebate they offer on the dupont car care website.

It's a rather strange product as the directions say to wipe it on with a dry cloth. Then let it dry for 2 minutes which they also mention that it won't haze over. Then to remove it you are supposed to use a damp cloth and wipe it until it shines. Those are the strangest instructions I've ever seen on a wax/polish type product.

This could turn out to be a really bad or really good product being so unique, at least they don't claim to have any teflon in it.

Re: Anyone tried Dupont Ion Polish?

Here's a thread on BITOG:

Bob Is The Oil Guy: New DuPont ION polish (TurtleWax ICE wannabe?)

I just called DuPont to ask why this wax sucked.

They explained it as this.

DuPont ION is an anti-static layer that goes on top of your normal wax to prevent dust, dirt and grime from being attracted to your paint. It doesn't protect the car from weather, doesn't enhance shine like carnuaba wax and doesn't clean. It's just an anti-static layer.

That doesn't make any sense that dupont themselves would put say the product does almost nothing, especially when this product costs twice as much as any of their other waxes.

im the guy from BOBISTHEOILGUY...

it's marketing, it does work ok as an anti-static layer. I found my car to be much less dusty and you could use it when the car is wet, dry or in the sun. Smells kinda nice too and has little glittery sparkles.

It works as stated, but it's totally not worth the 12.99 I paid for the 16oz bottle (I should have bought the spray bottle, it seems to be the same stuff...just 24oz instead!). Thankfully there;s a rebate!

Anyway it was free, and I'll continue using it till I'm out, but it doesn't replace my normal wax but i can testify about the dust sticking to my car less but it's not that impressive.
