Schmitt - Are the black pads fine for wheels ?

So I just got my AG order including a black schmitt .
The black Schmitt sure feels coarse....

I bought this to use for digging into wheelwells which seem like it would do the trick.

However, I don't think I would use it on ANY of my wheels at all - whether it be silver painted or even powder coated.

Maybe I'm just used to using old SS Wool mitts on them and like them babied, but definately too coarse for wheels IMO.

The black is fine for all wheels. I even use it on paint without scratching and or marring, but I prefer the white for paint because it holds much more solution.

Wheel, do a search for the balck scmitt, because around here some people use it on their pain, and have no marring problems at all. I would look before even trying it on fine wheels.

Does it feel like a yellow compounding pad>

Re: Schmitt - Are the black pads fine for wheels ?

Nope. It feels like it has more bite than a yellow cut pad.

I actually did read alot of the scmitt reviews and it seemed like alot liked them for the wheels. 50/50 on the paint though....

I would never use it on paint, but that's just me....I prefer something closer to a BHB or mitt that at least has some place where dirt can go up.

This weekend looks like it will rain through but it's rough enough that I know I won't use it on the wheels as it. Based on past reviews.....can't believe that many feel it's safe for wheels....
I'm not knocking the product, it's just too coarse for my taste.

However, it will do the job for my wheelwheels which I bought for it's intentions.

Re: Schmitt - Are the black pads fine for wheels ?

I find that it feels somewhat softer after it is in the bucket of wash solution. I make up a small bucket of carwash to wash my wheel with. Dry the black schmitt may feel a littel course but once it has the solution then it feels alot softer. I can definately see where someone may have second thoughts on using it on wheels. Some wheels I will use a mf towel.

Re: Schmitt - Are the black pads fine for wheels ?

I had the same impression you did when I received my black shmitt. No worries, I use it on everything, even bought another. Self preference, I wouldn't use on dark colors. However, have used it on white, silver, pewter, and the like with no swirls or marring. Far as wheels, have used on non-cleared polished aluminum without any ill effects.
