Shaving cream to clean leather seats

Has anyone tried cleaning leather with shaving cream? The reason I ask is it is a pretty pure form of soap. It seems that it would clean very well, but with no info I am hesitant to spray shaving on the seats in the Lincoln. I think the seats would need rinsed then something like z10 to finish.

I would stick to a lightly diluted apc. 10-20:1

Re: Shaving cream to clean leather seats

what apc, though? If you're talking about Meg's APC at 4:1, that's some strong stuff right there... I'd never use it on the interior...

took all the shine right out of my rubber floormats and made them look greyish. I kind of regret spraying 4:1 instead of my usual 10:1 on them.

Woolite 6:1 rubbed in with MF, Magic Eraser on stains.

Re: Shaving cream to clean leather seats

If your seats are fairly clean, you should use a leather, Lexol .Rightlook.com makes a good
leather cleaner as well. If they are nasty, ( not saying that they are) then I would use a apc.

Re: Shaving cream to clean leather seats

What a memory jolt this title was for me....Thanks
Back in the day me and my buddies all were using shaving cream to prep our baseball mitts because the oils and whatever soaked into the leather and really improved the flexibility of the mitt and then follow up with saddle soap. This was a BIG deal as all the pro ball players were now doing this at training camps and our coaches recommended this procedure.
With today’s research, technology and product development I would not use shaving cream and instead spend a couple of bucks on any of the quality leather products discussed on this forum. Personally I enjoy using Meg’s leather products on cars, sofa’s, jackets, soccer shoes, and of course baseball mitts, you get my drift.
For the noobies always do a small test patch first.

Boy, this seems harsh.

I don't think shaving cream is very close to soap, not since we quit using shaving brushes anyway.
