Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo (a bit underwhelmed)

I finished up my Meg's Gold Class and it's pretty much the only shampoo I used on my Black Audi.

Wanted to step up to a boutique brand so I ordered some Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo.

My initial impressions are mixed. Suds (or lack thereof) is what first comes to mind. I've read where others have attributed this to hard water. I have a DI setup in the garage and may have to try using filtered water next time to see it that makes a difference.

Cleaning ability is right up there, though we haven't had any snow yet so the car is more dusty than dirty.

Rinsing is about what others have claimed in that the panels do seem to rinse cleaner with less water.

I dunno, I'll play with it while I still have the 16 oz bottle before deciding if it's a keeper. Somehow I expected more.

Re: Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo (a bit underwhelmed)

Pinnacle is by far my No.1 shampoo. I find I get loads of suds with it, very slick, good cleaning & rinsing & it smells great. I tried Gold Class & really didn't like it all. Strange old world.

I've read from other members that PBS is hard on LSPs

^^^ I think that was more the case with the old formula than the recent new stuff (although I don't know for sure when the change over was made)

Haven't noticed any loss of beading of gloss yet.

Re: Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo (a bit underwhelmed)

I used Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo for a while and found it a very nice shampoo - a good lubricated wash solution (I personally hate loads of suds, so purposely aim to get less and aim for lubrication in the wash solution). It rinsed cleanely and left a nice gloss on the finish for a shampoo...

But I no longer use it: why? Because I personally find Meguiars Shampoo Plus a better shampoo (in terms of lubrication at least, and as good in terms of rinsing and the bright finish it leaves and its cleaning ability) - yet it costs so much less, in the UK at least. I'm not saying that PBS is a bad shampoo, it certainly isn't, but for me its just overpriced and there are better out there.

Hmm, haven't tried the newer version (didn't even know there was one). The version I used (for a *long* time, gallons of it) was so harsh I think you'd notice it right away. Good lubricity though.

Re: Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo (a bit underwhelmed)

No problems here with it damaging my LSP. #16 still beading like crazy after 6 washes.

Re: Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo (a bit underwhelmed)

Considering Pinnacles other offerings I'd be very suprised if the shampoo wasn't good, thought I read a lot of poeple liking it. I haven't used it, but with Poorboys and Duragloss washes don't really feel the need to use anything else.

Re: Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo (a bit underwhelmed)

Thanks guys for providing input and experiences. Maybe I'm equating the suds level with the performance of the Shampoo wrongly.

That subject has been discussed here quite in depth.

Merry Christmas
Happy Boxing Day
