Aquapel now available at Pep Boys

I was at Pep Boys today and while checking the shelves out for new items I came across something that I swore was Aquapel but the box was different.

Turns out PPG is marketing Aquapel Glass Treatment as both a professional brand (the one we all see in the Blue box) and this one which is sold under their consumer line.

I'm not sure what the difference between the two is (if any) but will ask them. It would be nice to be able to buy Aquapel locally instead of on-line.

I'd be interested hearing if anyone has tried some of the other stuff from thier consumner line Brake Dust Remover, Invisible Film and the Windsheild Cleaner.

PPG makes good products and I'm very pleased with Aquapel, maybe I'll call them an see if I can get a sample of each.

Re: Aquapel now available at Pep Boys

I found no difference in the blue boxed one and the one now sold in auto supply shops...I just think they are grabbing the consumer market now....

It is a great product...worth the price...

Re: Aquapel now available at Pep Boys

This was brought up recently here-- http://autopia.org/forum/detailing-p...?highlight=ppg

I tried calling PPG's consumer 800 # and they were clueless as to be able to answer any of my questions about the consumer packaged version of the Aquapel or any of the other new car care stuff. Their customer service rep. said that she didn't have any info available because these items were too new.

I believe that the consumer version is exactly the same product as the pro Aquapel.

Al: Thanks for the feedback.

Chml17l: I didn't catch that thread but thanks for posting it. I don't like re-posting threads that were already started.

The Invisible Wheel Film looks like an interesting product to try.

Re: Aquapel now available at Pep Boys

Yeah but I can't recall seeing it on the shelves, not that I was looking.

I've been waxing both sets of wheels and am happy with Turtle Wax's Platimum Wheel Cleaner but always on the look out for something that might make cleaning wheels something other than the bore it is.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same (or extremely similar) product to Aquapel

Re: Aquapel now available at Pep Boys

I went to Pep Boys today and couldn't find this stuff. Was it in the car care section or elsewhere? I checked pretty much the whole store, but couldn't find it.

Reportedly...

* Lasts much longer
* Doesn't streak with wipers
* More expensive, but again, it is supposed to last significantly longer (we're talking many months compared to a week or two with rain-x before it starts to fade and streak).

Well in the one I went to it was in the car care section but not on the shelves with the soaps, polishes, waxes, and stuff.

I actually stumbled on it hanging off the end of the aisle with the bodywork supplies (bondo, sandpaper, rust preperations).

Sometimes Pep Boys just throws stuff up anywhere to see if it sells before making a permenate place for it.

Print out a pic and take it there and ask them if they carry it.

Another thing is that they can't have been selling it for that long cause I go there pretty frequently and it wasn't there to catch my eye several weeks ago.
