so today (bad day to test it out - super windy), i decided to onestep my toyota tundra with megs #66 cleaner polish/wax. I set out with a PC and a exceldetail orange pad. the results were ok...nothing stellar, but it got the job done. Swirls were removed about 50 %, light scratches were left untouched pretty much. The 66 does have some cut to it, but I think its better suited as a chemical makeup as it works amazing on oxidation, faster than something like a polish.
So I had to use a sealant for the "harsh SOCAL winter months." (i know i know, no such thing) I took a look at what I had to use and it was a toss up between
M21 or PB EX...I went with the M21 as I have used EX on it before a long time ago - about 1 year ago, but have been waxing with OCW and
souveran every month....
I applied the 21 with a green exceldetail pad on the pc speed 4, not too fast, but not so slow either. I let it dry on the paint for about 30minutes, maybe a little too long as in some places it was hard to remove (took three swipes instead of two - picky I know!!!

) After wiping it all off, my paint was much darker, and deeper looking. It looks like polishing then waxing with souveran! But this is the first day having it done, so I am sure the look will change once it "cures" for a day...but the ease of application was good, the look was good, and the protection - >????? we will see. I clayed the front end of my truck, and decided not to do the roof or the sides (a little lazy I know)
on a side note, I will never believe anyone who says they can effectively clay a whole car in 15 minutes...just to go over my fenders and hood alone took me 20 minutes; and it wasnt even close to being bad! The way I clay is as follows:
spray on lube all over the whole fender, clay in a right to left fashion over lapping by 2" when moving to a new right to left section (my sections are about 12" from end point to end point), back and forth two times to ensure its clean, not just one swipe! Then move to the hood and repeat the process: spray lube, figure a 12" sections and work from the cowl to the hood latch and back up, then move over to the right and repeat until the whole thing is done....no way its possible to effectively clay the whole truck in this fashion in 15 -20 minutes like some people say they can do....THOUGHTS?
