Question How effective is Optimum Poli Seal ??

I was planning on detailing my friend's new 06 G35 coupe. It is gold in color and the condition is in fairly good shape with some minor swirls and in definite need of claying. So anyways,

How effective is Poli seal at removing minor defects? Would I be able to use it with a propel green polishing pad as the one and only step after claying? Or should I use SSR 1 with the green pad to polish and then use the Poli Seal with the blue or black propel finishing pad?

Re: How effective is Optimum Poli Seal ??

if your goal is swirl removal, use a polish with abrasives and then poliseal...most people are getting about 40-50% swirl removal/hiding with poliseal

Re: How effective is Optimum Poli Seal ??

I ask because I was really trying to combine the two steps into one on paint in fairly good condition. If I have to polish first I might as well just go with the SSR 1 and then finish with EX-P or a carnuba.

Try a test spot. The only way you can really gauge what's required.

Good luck!

Re: How effective is Optimum Poli Seal ??

If it is just minor swirls the Poli Seal will work fine. I have used it to do minor paint correction. I've used it with a polishing and light cutting pad. Both finished off great.

Re: How effective is Optimum Poli Seal ??

if its anything beyond almost superficial I'd probably just move to the Polish. In my experience Poli-Seal doesn't stick around long enough to really work in those swirled areas, and if you try to add more product, you'll get some areas that gum up and that's no fun. (been there done that)

It'll remove light defects but it isn't a substitute for proper prep. I use it mostly to combine my final polishing and sealing steps into one.

Re: How effective is Optimum Poli Seal ??

As a sealant, would you guys think it's as effective (durability wise) as a true sealant, such as KSG, #21, etc?

A little off topic. Autogeek has the 32oz size today.

I plan to use poly seal like an AIO and top with Aqua Wax.

I did that same thing just with AJT (bought a sample off a member.) While I was impressed, I think the AW instead of AJT will product just as good of a result.

The AJT is tricky because the coloring makes it look more potent and makes you think itll be thicker and work better but the price/performance ratio doesnt touch AW. Basically in a long winded round of bout way, AW ontop of PS will look great!
