BonAmi Polishing Cleanser on glass?

So, I've been attempting to completely strip the glass on my tC of all products (basically Rain-X, its useless in the rain but continues to bead when washing the car, and is being very bad with me trying to get a good layer for once. I need to start over ). After trying a lot of things (except AIO, but I only want to use that when I get to do the whole car)... so the Rain-X people say the following:

Quote:
1). How do you remove Rain-X® Glass Treatment from exterior glass?
Rain-X® Glass Treatment can be removed from exterior glass by using either Rain-X® Glass Polish (Under "Glass Cleaner") or Bon-Ami Cleaning Powder or Soft Scrub cleaner. (Bon-Ami Cleaning Powder is sold at True Value Hardware Stores and Ace Hardware Stores. If you cannot find this product, Bon-Ami Cleanser - a different product - can be used, only if you add enough water to make it a "soapy" solution).
Ok, so I went out and bought some BonAmi (only $.89!), but I got a "polishing cleanser." They obviously pride themselves on being a "gentle abrasive" cleaner, with "no scratches happened yet!" stuff. Anyways, is it safe to use this, and how should I go about using it? A "soapy solution"? What does that mean?

thanks!

Bon-Ami has been around for 100 years. Soak a cotton terry cloth, shake on the powder, knead the wet cloth so the powder sort of melts and lathers into the cloth, then rub it on the window. Rinse with water and repeat if necessary.

Last night I did the same thing to the glass on my wifes Maxima. Terrible shape, but an orange edge pad and Optimum Compound (and a lot of time spent) took it down to glass so smooth it was shocking.

just an update... I tried Bon Ami on a window today (mixed in a bowl with water, soaked a MF towel in it, spread on window)

I tried about 3-4 times, letting it soak each time for probably about 5 minutes. No difference! water is still beading as if there was rain-x there. Great, another failed attempt.
