Just got some halogens

Last night from Home Depot for 25$, it's two 250watt lights with a tripod. I put it up to my yellow 2001 mustang today..and it really was not as bad as I thought it would look, but I have never polished it yet. Would this be due to always having a coat of wax on? I bought it used last October and don't know how loving the past owner was, but it just surprised me, I was expecting swirl city. What polish would you all recommend for very light swirls?

Anyway, just letting you know that the lights are great and are my new favorite detailing tool!

Try using the light at different angles, that might expose more swirls. Optimum Polish on a polishing pad(worked in long) should remove most light swirls.

I've been thinking of grabbing some OP soon, but I also have a near full jug of #83 that came with my G100. I just need to get some new pads and I'll be rockin. I also just got a call from a guy wanting me to do his Excursion...oh boy.

Also, try turning out the other lights, turn on just *one* of the halogen bulbs, and move the halogen light away from the finish so it's at a little bit of a distance. Gotta play around with this stuff until you find the right setup. I'd bet *anything* that the Mustand has marring (and I don't mean that as a slam, even my previously marring-free S8 has some flaws that weren't there two years ago and that's one *very* pampered car).

You'll almost certainly need a milder polish as a follow up to the #83. The OCP oughta work well, everybody loves it (and I have some on order myself). Otherwise I always recommend the under-appreciated (IMO) stuff from 1Z but everybody has their favorites and there are a scad of product lines to choose from these days.
