just ordered a gallon of ONR...why?...because...

after reading many threads about ONR i wanted to give it a try and figured i'd grab a 32oz bottle to sample. then, realized it could be used for more than the no rinse washing and wanted to stock up.

my winter plan will be to use it as follows:

--dilute and use as a pretreat spray on heavily soiled areas (thicker road salt around wheels, etc)

--typical ONR wash steps

--dilute as a QD spray for use after the wash above

--follow-up w/ a protective product (Z-8 or Aquawax)

anyone else using ONR as a QD? hopefully it will allow me to cut down on the multiple products. it should be fine for general QD use, i am guessing.

since my autopian infection began in July or so i am DREADING winter now.

I love my ONR - i use the QD as a emergency bird poo remover. I've found other QD's that provide a slicker surface, but this is my "cleaning" QD.

Look into AW - its cheaper then z8 and many have compared them to eachother.

i have Z-6, Z-8, and AW...just saying i will use one of those as a LSP spray after the ONR. not to drift off topic (but, hey...it's my thread! hahaha)...i find the Z-8 to be much better than AW. maybe it is just the consistency and smell, but it seems to basically be a slightly watered down Z-5 Pro in a bottle w/ WOWO properties rather than letting it haze before removal. don't get me wrong, i love AW!

You might want to do some searching for issues with AW after ONR. There was some talk about compatibility between ONR & AW in various threads. Here's one thread in particular...

http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=73738

I have not tried AW, but I'm planning to possibly try it next year after I run out of OCW. I really like the ease of use from OCW, but I just wish it had better durability. One thing I've found is that the durability in terms of staying slicker for longer has improved since I've started using ONR . I just wish ONR didn't smell so bad and didn't turn into such an ugly un-appealing color within a few weeks of purchasing it. ONR still works well from what I can tell, but I won't be buying Optimum's products in bulk anymore as I'm stuck with plenty of old product (shampoo, polish, etc) when I could have used that money to buy product that I would have been happier with (i.e. newer version of OP).

I've been using ONR as a QD/clay lube for a few weeks now and it works very well, really good cleaning power too. Definitely beyond most QDs. Slickness isn't like Quikshine but it isn't bad either.

About the color changing qadsan mentioned-Optimum is going to use a new coloring agent that should be stable hot or cold so the color won't change. Personally, I don't care if it turns from pink to black to orange, it still works just as well no matter what the color is.
