Grandma's Secret Spot remover

Grandma's Secret Spot Remover

Has anyone tried this stuff? I heard about it on a Lexus forum and people swear it is the best spot remover they have ever used.

Feedback???

Hmm I would want to see a msds sheet.

It claims to clean a lot of things that require vastly different chemicals in other industries.

I'd be worried that it was a solvent, High ph (ie very caustic) or a high percentage hydrogen per-oxide. (45% or more) any of those 3 could cause serious harm to you, let alone your car.

The website claims it is non-toxic

"Grandma’s Secret Spot Remover® is Environmentally Safe, Biodegradable, Non-Toxic and Contains NO Chlorine or Phosphates"

LOL non toxic does not mean it will not hurt. uranium 235 is bio degradeable. after about 3 million years. but judging from the reviews and the actual website I am guessing it is a protien spotter, probably a simple enzyme system.

really should look at an msds.

for reference.

Neutral detergents make for (in general) poor cleaners, They make better specific spot removers.

alkaline cleaners make for great dirt and grime cleaners. but do very poorly on tanins, urines, and protien based soils.

Acidic detergents make for poor dirt removals, but do very well on urines, tanin, some protien based stains, and some food based dyes.

Enzymes are usually reserved for organics like foodstuffs, grass, and others.

Solvents, make for very poor detergents as they have almost no cleaning ability. However wehn combined with an alkaline detergent you will finde a combo that will defeat many oily soils found in cars. Apply the solvent to fiber first, work in with brush, then apply AK detergent.

Sure it is, it's been in the earth for billions of years. What i am getting at is they can say anything in advertising. untill you look at an msds sheet you really can not know the truth of their claims.

Like i said it is probably an enzyme based detergent rebottled from another manufacture. Don't let the grandma's secret story lure you in. there are dozens of top quality enzyme based spotters and cleaners out that will give you the same performance at a fraction of the cost.

I'll admit that if you ant to try it 3. bucks is not a bad price, but for 2 oz, that is a steep price per oz.

If your looking for a neutral, enzyme based cleaner spotter, or even a whole line of enzyme based products that will provide a msds.

i suggest bi-o-kleen. I've used their products professionally for years. top notch company. they can be ordered on the web.

Ah, I see. They aren't obligated by law to post the MSDS on the website?

edited my post above, If you are looking for a recomendation of this sort try the bi-0-kleen bac-out.

I was un able to find it on their website. I think since they sell it as a laundry product and not a comercial product...

http://www.grandmassoap.com/

and another edit, I did not find their msds lis on bi-o-kleens website. However when ever i bought stuff from them in the past the msds was included. I'll fire off an email and see what response i get.

well that was fast. Bi-o-Kleens response to my question about the msds online.

Quote:
Hello,

We actually do not have our MSDS sheets on our website. We are in the process of updating our site and they will be on there when the project is complete. You can email me and let me know which MSDS sheets you need and I will email you copies of them.

Thanks,

Stacey Yung
