Meguiars 6" Burgundy and Yellow pads

I did a search but couldn't find much info. It seems a lot of people had success with these pads combined with SSR 2.5. How aggressive are these pads? Im using some tropi-care pads that do not seem too aggressive, so I am looking to step it up.

Also, is there a coupon code for Classic-Motoring/Poper Auto Care?

Thanks.

the burgundy pads are extremely aggressive. and can leave some marring. If you follow up with the polishing pad you should be fine.

the TC pads are made by lake country. I have 2 meg burgundy pads. the 8 inch one was significantly softer than the 6 1/2 inch one. I like the soft one and the hard one I'm not to fond of. If you used one it would be best to follow up with either a TC polishing pad or Megs yellow pad (which is quite soft)

I use them almost exclusively!! I love the burgundy pad, since it has such good cutting action... Speed 6 with some Meguiars Medium cut cleaner, and you can work almost like a rotary!! haha.

I also love the yellow polishing pads... I just wish I could find them cheaper than $25 each!!

Pretty much what the others said, very aggressive cutting pad, usually leaves some marring that you need to step down in pad/polish combo to remove. Definitely will remove defects with a compound using the PC. Maybe not like a rotary but it is about as aggressive as you can get with the PC.

evenflow, its funny but I NEVER use the burgundy pad. When I started detailing I used it on a couple of jobs - the result was that is dulled the finish so badly that I was never able to get the panel as glossy as the other panels that didn't get the burgundy pad.

Obviously others have had better results than me, but I thought I'd warn you because I know that I'm not the only one on this board that has had my experience. I hope you have better success than me. These days I find the LC orange aggressive enough to remove most marring and not create any problems.

The Megs yellow pad is a great polishing pad, especially with petroleum based polishes.

i detailed a car last week using 2.5 and the megs cutting pad

the paint was relatively hard, that after buffing with a rotary the finish came out LSP ready

here is the front quarter after a clay

now here is the same panel after two passes of 2.5 on burgandy cutting pad, with a rotary

I guess the moral of this story is do a test spot. I have used the burgundy pad on a PC on my GM clear with no marring, and I also used it on old SS Ford red paint--no marring.

I think the issue might be that some burgandy pads seem to be softer than others. Not sure if it was a product change or production variations. Pick the softest one you can find.
