Join Date: Jan 2004 Posts: 617 | Optimum No-Rinse, Sea Sponge? MF? Wool mit? About to take my first crack at cleaning the car with Optimum No Rinse. Ordered a gallon of it from Detail City (10% discount when you sign up for their newsletter).
I wash with a sea sponge usually and I reall think its way better than wool wash mits and Chenille sponges. THe sea Sponge seems to come clean ALLOT quicker and easier than the others mentioned. Does anyone here use the Sea Sponge and No-Rinse tandem?
or are best/safest results obtained from using something else?

Just a FYI for those who are interested...The grout sponges we are talking about can be found at your local Home Depot - usually located in a big box in the tile isle. I too was skeptical about the quality for the price...but these sponges have greatly reduced me inducing marring!

Has anyone else had success with the grout sponge?

I use 2 buckets for the paintwork of the car and two buckets for the wheels, wheel wells, exhaust and tires. I use grout sponge on some tough areas then 2 chenille pads for the paintwork, and a couple of MF's for the wheels and a foam brush for in between the lug nuts and then a chenille mit for the wheel wells, exhaust and then some shop rags for the tires. I've tried a sheepskin mit on the paintwork and it works well too. Overall, I think the chenille pads work best for me on the paintwork. They seem to glide a bit easier with the No Rinse (or QEW.)
I use that exact same grout sponge from Lowes. My Home Depot doesn't ever seem to have any.???! I think you guys have hit them up for all of them.
