talked to local mirror glaze guy!?!?!?

I had an interseting talk with the guy at my local Mirror Glaze store. He said there is no difference in there Hi Tech yellow wax and any other carnuba wax, including Pinnacle or Zymol or PS21. Also he said that putting more then one layer of anything on is a complete waste of time. Also said it doesnt do any good to put on more then one type of product, like a wax over a sealant. I didnt argue with the guy, he said he had been working for Meguires for 35 yrs.

He works for Meguiar's or sells Meguiar's? I would not get any more advice from him either way. LOL

Hello, fellow Louisvillian!

I have been to that store several times. I checked them out, and there does not seem to be any relation to Meguiar's Inc. Their prices seem to be pretty high on Meguiar's products - higher than Meg's own list prices. I don't know how they get away with using the Mirror Glaze name. Meguiar's lists them as a distributor under the name "M & G Dist.," so I doubt they even know the store is using their Mirror Glaze name. I have talked to several guys behind the counter, some know a little bit about what they are talking about...and then there's the guy you talked to!

For getting straight information, I have found the store to be less than helpful, but I can find a locally available, elusive product there every now and then. They do carry some hard to find products, including some RaggTopp stuff, Unigrit finishing papers, etc.

This is entirely off-topic, but since you brought it up, the spelling of the word you are questioning is taken from a quote from Dr. Balthasar Hubmaier of Friedberg. He lived during the late 15th - early 16th century. Please see any of his books for the spelling, as it was his trademark motto. (I am referencing Schriften.) I am aware that the modern spelling is wahrheit as you have indicated, but I am simply quoting a much earlier source. I am sure that you would understand the etymology and morphology of the word much better than I, so any corrections or clarifications would be appreciated.

Bence, I always appreciate your critical eye and attention to perfection. Thanks for noticing the quote!

John,

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't aware that it was in fact a quote from the days of Herr Hubmeier. My studies contained only the modern spelling, but yes, the 'ancient' German spelling was indeed Warhait. I hope I won't burn in the purgatory as Balthasar did...

Thanks for the little historicum!

You bet. I remember being excited to hear about the store, and then I visited it and was pretty let down.

I live in Crescent Hill. I've only been here for a couple of years, and probably won't be here long term. What about you? I see you are a Cardinals fan.
