Werkstatt Prime /AJ-Trigger Review

I decided it was time to do the Corvette. I wanted to use something different than the other Vettes in the area, who mostly use Zaino and NXT. After some great e-mail exchanges with Jeff (the owner), I decided the new Werkstatt products would give me what I wanted: Clear, wet protection. I wanted the flake to pop, yet have the deep wet look that you get from a carnuba. These products defintely hit the mark, unlike the OCW I was using which though looked good, I felt muted the flake a bit.

After washing with Poorboys SSS wash, first up was Prime. Prime is a combination polish/acrylic sealer. It provided minor swirl removal while deep cleaning the paint. I only had one or two minor swirls at best, but Prime removed them. Using my PC and a grey Propel finishing pad, I was able to cover the entire car in about 10-15 minutes. A little goes a long way. The product worked in easily. The only thing I could say about application is if you see thick white areas, you are applying too heavily and those areas will be a bit harder to remove. I found that taking a foam hand pad and spreading them out before drying helped a lot. I let Prime stand for 30 minutes which gave me time to Flitz the exhaust.

Removal was moderate. I wouldnt call it easy or difficult, somewhere in between. It could be attributed to my first try and applying too thick, as the harder spots appreared thicker. I was amazed at the slickness and shine for just the Prime alone. Much slicker than off the shelf products like NXT, Mothers, etc by far. I would not hesitate to use Prime as a one step for a vehicle in good shape or limited weather exposure. It was so slick, I almost hesitated and left it that way.

Finally, I used Acrylic Jett -Trigger. This is the LSP that provides extra protection, slickness and shine. As with most of the newer LSP sprays, you almost feel like there is no way this can be as good as a thicker or paste product. It goes on easy like a QD. Spray it on, work it with a MF until it disappears. The results were stunning. I didnt think the surface could get any slicker, but sure enough it did.

Slickness, clarity, color fidelity and wetness easily rank as the best Ive seen for my taste on a metallic finish. If I had to compare, the only prep Ive seen come close to this is Z2Pro x 3, with Z6 x3 and a Z8 Topper. I think I accomplished more in a fraction of the time (I completed the entire process in just over an hour, and I was taking my time), and at a much less cost. Take a look at the picture of the bottles. Notice the the levels. This was taken AFTER I did the entire car. I will report back on durability. I also have the Acrylic Glos QD to keep up between detailings. But with the ease of the Acrylic Jett - Trigger, I dont even know how much I'd use it.

For ease of use, results, customer service and a show stopping finish, I give the Werkstatt system a 10 out of 10. Enough of my rambling, on with the pics:

That looks awesome. I'm also using the Prime and AJ today. Will have a review up later. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent! I have AIO/SG but also have some Jett (not the Trigger) and hope to try it next month. I still have lots of AIO so I'll probably put the Jett on it. I also have the QD Acrylic Gloss. Hope it comes out as well as yours.

Craigster,

Your Vette looks awsome!!

I too have just ordered Prime and Acrylic Jett -Trigger for our two titanium metalic Bimmers. I hope mine come out as good as yours!

Again, great detail on a sweet car!

I used Prime and Trigger x 2 today on a silver SL500 just today! I have a silver C6 Corvette tomorrow so same deal. So easy, so fast!

I agree with everything in your review. Mirrors my Werkstatt experience. One thing that helps when applying Prime is if you see any thick areas, just go over them again with the PC before they completely dry. Makes removal a breeze!

Your Corvette turned out absolutely beautiful!

Wow your Corvette looks awesome and the flakes are really popping. Yesterday I just did a silver Toyota IST with Prime Acrylic and Acrylic Jett, the result is wonderful too.

As Scottwax has mentioned, those spots where Prime is difficult to buff off, usually it is applied too thick. Simply go over those spots with the applicator or pad that you use to apply Prime, the residue will come off easily.

Looks great Craig. I'll compare the products soon versus Zaino as well but I'm very happy with Z-2 Pro.

Wait until you see the silver SL500 I did today with Optimum Compound, Mernzerna/RMG mix and the Werkstatt twins.

I'd definitely be interested in any testing you do with Werkstatt products.
