Test surface: inner bottom surface of a stainless steel pot.

Caution: There are many kinds of stainless steel surface, and mine does not represent stainless steel, and there is no guarantee that this test surface is similar to painted surface on automobile. Water sheeting alone is not an indicator of protection.

Prep: Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner.

Wax application and removal: microfiber.

[1] Wax application

A half section: Meguiars NXT liquid G-12718, J5231SSBE
Other half section: Turtle Wax Platinum Series Ultra Gloss Liquid Wax T-412R, 05088 39B

I waited 30 minutes, then removed haze. Both products were easy to remove.

[2] Wait for the wax polymer to cure

3 hours.

For the last 30 minutes in this three hour cure time, I put the stainless pot near a light bulb. The pots outer bottom surface faced the bulb, and it became warm to the touch. I hope this accelerated the curing.

[3] Against mild oil.

I sprayed Meguiars NXT Tech Protect vinyl/rubber/plastic protectant on microfiber, and wiped the test surface with it.
Then I wiped protectant off with clean microfiber.
Then I washed the surface with car wash (diluted Mothers car wash) and wet tissue (folded thick enough to give even gentle pressure), and rinsed it.

I examined water sheeting by turning the stainless steel pot quickly so that the test surface becomes vertical.

The TurtleWax section sheeted a little more.

[4] Against an acid cleaner

I sprayed Meguiars Hot Rims (ph 2.5) to the test surface and wiped with a round microfiber applicator (foam inside) for about 50 seconds.

Turtle Wax section sheeted a little more.

[5] Against a basic cleaner

I sprayed Eagle One All Wheel Cleaner (its previous version A2Z had ph 12.7) to the test surface and wiped with a round terry applicator (foam inside) for about 30 seconds.

I washed the surface with car wash and wet tissue, and rinsed well.

Both sections showed reduced water sheeting, but the Turtle Wax Platinum section sheeted water bettere than the Meguiars NXT section.

Does better sheeting automaticlly = better protection for the paint?

I hope to see scientific report:

wax A: beaded and sheeted very well initially. no beading no sheeting anymore. water clings to the surface as if it had not been waxed for 5 years.
wax B: still beading or sheeting.

But wax A still has more protection (aginst gasoline fuel, diesel fuel, bird dropping, bug, tar, road grime, automatic car wash abrasion, UV, etc.) than wax B.
