Quick Blackfire Wet Diamond review

I tried this out on the hood of the 'vette yesterday. My initial impression is that it looks and smells exactly like the old Blackfire (BFII), except it seems a little runnier, more liquid. The old stuff is almost like a gel, it's pretty thick.

This liquid factor had me put a fair bit too much on the pad, enough that I applied it to one half the hood and could probably have kept going.

So here's where it is different. It still wiped off quite easily. The old stuff would have been a bear. I haven't seen the car outside, so I can't say it truly buffed off completely, but it at least didn't just wipe around like the old stuff can do sometimes.

I actually had the old BF on the hood previously, though I polished the hood out before trying the new BF. In the garage, it looks pretty similar, though maybe a tad more reflective? It actually looks a fair bit like Z5 does. But this is just in the garage, and only on a hood, so who knows. The down-the-hood shot while driving is what really does it for me. If it looks really red then, then I'm happy.

Hmm. That's odd. I had read that the new version was supposed to be harder to remove.
Thanks for the review!

Where'd you read that? It's hard to imagine anything being harder to remove than the old stuff.

Well, it seems as promising as Blackfire if it were easy to remove. I like Blackfire, so I'm certainly interested.

Not sure this pict shows much, but here you go:

From the CMA site.

Con: New formula harder to buff off.
It does also say that it's an "easy wipe on/buff off application," so I wasn't really sure which comment to believe.

(As an aside, has anyone else noticed that the "new" Blackfire results pictures are the same ones as the "original?" -Same Cadillac, same BMW, Same Totota...)

That "Con: New formula harder to buff off" message is really old. They put that up there when Blackfire II came out a long while back.

It is certainly easier to use. In all other respects, it seems pretty identical to the old so far. I like the old formula, so that's a plus for me.
