Cheap soap for foam gun

Right on the heels of the "soap in a gallon" thread, I wanted to ask what soap (hopefully inexpensive) people are using with their foam gun? (I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I want to make sure I'm getting the latest and greatest)

I have the Simple Green (Gilmour) foam gun and still have about two gallons of Gold Class soap left. I assume this soap is okay in regards to foaming action? How much soap do I put in the container and what setting to I put the foamer on?

5-6 ounces per gallon of solution works fine. I use the most diluted or the 2nd most diluted hole in on the little brass selector mechanism thingy.

Any soap should do fine really. Eagle one works great, as does NXT, haven't tried GC though.

I have the Gilmour gun. I use between 4-6 ounces of Gold Class soap. I say that becuase I dont actually measure it out exactly each time. the first time I used it I did so and since I have just guessed. I have used GoldClass over the past month. My plan of attack with the soap is to simply use what is available locally for a fair price and still is a quality soap. I would hesitate from using some of the expensive soaps in the 16oz containers since the cost would get pretty high..assuming you use the gun frequently.

ya... 16 ounces goes by REAL quick when your using a foam gun to wash. a month to a month and a half is about what your going to get out of 16 ounces of soap (assuming a wash per week).

Is target the only place that I can pick up gold class shampoo? Advanced, and Autozone don't have it, walmart doesn't have it... The closest Target to me is a 1/2 hour away

I mix mine up just like Neothin, which is a little stronger than I used to use. I'll sometimes use a stronger dilution setting at the gun for really dirty panels (nasty winter stuff).

I use Griot's Car Wash in mine. I like the lubricity and don't want to risk compromising the whole marring-free-wash technique by using a cheaper shampoo. I'm not sure it's necessary, but I still remember how my marring decreased so radically when I quit using cheap shampoos back when I was still washing with the regular two-bucket method.
