In the consumer market it is all about competing for shelf space in places like the auto parts stores and the likes of WalMart, Target, etc.... By having a varied product line at different price points they increase their chances of getting that space. Last time I heard Meguiars was a "for profit" company. Seems these days success is considered a bad thing.

At first, when I heard about the new accessory line, I must admit I wasn't too excited. It's hard to get excited about a brush. That said, after seeing, feeling and holding all of these items first hand, I must say, I was impressed.

All of these tools are brand new designs. Meguiar's worked with an engineering company to design all new tools, not the same old stuff but in a different color.

I'll be holding a special event in the near future and I'll invite some Autopians to attend and see them first hand

Nor would somebody here say that a brush was homosexual. I know I have to keep my tire brush and my carpet brush far away from eachother for this very reason....

Megs is not at different price points. If the cheapest wax they sell is i.e $6 and the most expensive wax the sell is NXT @$14 they are still in the same price point. What they do and once again I am not picking on them is they SATURATE the shelves with all there products because there is no body else.Who can you buy from if your a off the street detailer Mothers Black Magic Turtle Wax that is all I see on the shelves except Armor all and Baja. just proving my point.we learned this in school years ago THE MONEY IS THERE FOR THE TAKING.

Well, I'm not sure it's the fact that Meguiar's is trying to be profitable that has some of the upset people upset. I find it a bit strange to have so many different products. Part of that may be the target audience. Price points and shelf space aren't generally what I care about. I care that they make products that I want to use, and that of the multiple products of one category, that it is easy to pick out which one is the one I want. Take a tire shine. Some people like shiny, some not so shiny. But what's the difference in Hot Shine, or Insane Shine or Endurance Hi-Gloss? Price and packaging is one big one, but which is shinier? Which is more durable? Should I have to buy all three and try them just to have an idea? Certainly to have a definitive feeling, I should use all three. But if I'm pretty sure I just want medium-high gloss, which is the most appropriate one?

The more I look at the product line-up, and read between the lines on the descriptions, the more sense they seem to make, though.
-Insane shine is probably shinier than Hot Shine, and neither of those probably last as well as Endurance Hi-Gloss.
-NXT paste wax, great idea, some people prefer paste. I'm not a huge NXT fan, so I'll pass on it, but nice to offer it (I sure hope it isn't a #16 replacement).
-Glass cleaner, yeah that's nice to have in non-8-gallons-of-cleaner size.
-The interior QD, seems like a niche product if you have a need for something like that, sounds like that 1Z product of similar description.
-Towels, well how are they diff than the current drying towel and the current cotton towels? But then, how are any people's MF's different?
-Brushes, they seem neat. They are quite clear about what they are designed for.
-NXT QD, ehh every protectant out there has a QD. I'm sure I'll just keep on using Last Touch.

I've noticed a lot of knowing what a Meg's product will be like involves reading between the lines. Look at some ones you are familiar with, like #16 vs #26, or Speed Glaze vs SFP, or Quik Detailer vs Final Inspection vs Last Touch, or whatever you are using. The differences are usually there in the descriptions if you just read between the lines and look for them.

But offering up more products can't be a bad thing, you can always choose not to buy them. I do hope in further marketing/info on the products that they take more effort to explain what gap each one fills in, though.

So is it your contention that if Meguiar's only had one wax, then you'd be able to get things like Klasse, Zaino, or Pinnacle off the shelf? I think that's unlikely. I bet in most stores you'll only see about 2-3 different Meguiar's waxes anyway, which will have large differences besides just price and packaging, like cleaner/wax vs NXT.

How can Meguiars "saturate" the shelves. Meguiars doesn't own the shelf space, they have to compete for it. If the shelves are saturated with Meguirs products it is because the buyers for those store chains know it will sell, plain and simple.

My Favorite Meguiar's product is/was Final Detail.

They introduced its replacement with a new name/new smell...Last Touch...I found it to be streaky if not mixed with water and it did not leave the surface as shiny as did Final Detail. Also the smell of Final Detail is much nicer than Last Touch IMO.

Sometimes new is not better. I managed to find a body/paint supply store with 4 gallons of old stock Final Detail and picked them up. I just hope they have a long enough shelf life.

While I can understand Meguiar's changing the formulation to comply with new Environmental Regulations, I don't understand why they changed the name and smell of the product.

I must say that I was never a Megs fan. I like speciality productrs with definitive purposes. I don't mind paying a little more for these products. I find megs products to have too many that do the same thing. To me it's a bit confusing which product to use or which t" to try". Or is that what they want us all to do.TRY THEM!
They havn't pulled me in. I will use some of the products and give them a fair shake. btu for the most part I look to the boutique product thats a bit different than the norm and provides top quality and great results. I'm sure Megs has alot of great products but I just have a hard time fishing through all the hype and so many different label names and #'s.
Of course this is just MY opinion.
