Sonus Paintwork Cleanser.......UNBELIEVABLE STUFF! I just received a bottle of the SPC a couple days ago and decided to try it out on my 04' Expedition since it's been about 12 weeks since I last did anything to it, and it was definitely ready for a good detail. My paint was in very good shape and I didn't really have any defects to speak of other than some very minor scratches, waterspots, and scuffs here and there, so SPC was perfect for my application.
I applied SPC via PC with a blue Sonus polishing pad, which was a match made in heaven for this product but that's another story. It only took about three to four drops of SPC to do a small workable area and worked it just like a polish. It stays workable for a decent length of time before drying, and doesn't dust very much at all. I worked a 3 x 3 area at a time and started off on speed 5 but I found that on 5 it sometimes took forever to dust, so after about 1/4 of the car I started using speed 6, oh yeah! This opened up another world, and things started to really move along. On speed 6, the cleaner worked in a lot faster and was easier to remove. As usual, don't apply too much or it is quite hard to remove, but use the right amount and work it in long enough and it's simple, I even used it on the glass. A little goes a long way.
SPC isn't a very abrasive product at all, it's actually one of the most gentle products I have used yet, putting it right along the lines of
AIO *but* don't let that fool you. I had about two or three nasty scratches and it didn't take them out, per say, but it definitely rounded off the edges and made then unnoticeable to the naked eye. Waterspots came right off with no problem, just like with AIO. You could probably get more scrubbing power or cutting power out of it if you used a stiffer pad, like the Sonus green pad or a LC white pad. The Sonus blue pad feels like a soft pillow under your PC, takes a bit of getting used to actually.
The biggest thing I noticed was the unbelievable finish it left. The paint is silky smooth, and the final product is a nice, deep, glossy, wet looking finish. It really does look like a completely detailed vehicle, not a detail in progress.
This product really blew my mind, I wasn't expecting anywhere near the results I got and would highly recommend it for anyone with a new or well maintained finish that is looking for a very mild polish/cleaner to use before any topper. I ran out of time today but plan on doing AIO,
SG x 3, and
Souveran over the course of the next week and will post pics when it's all done.
