There comes a time when you have to draw the line on the price of a product.Just like the rest of you I will pay serious money if a product proves itself but THIS IS WHERE I DRAW THE LINE I WONT PAY WHAT I CALL STUPID MONEY ITS NOT WORTH IT NOT AT THOSE PRICES

Alan,

What's so stupid? You can get a canister for $40. I personally would get the $41 P21S kit from Top of The Line but that's me.

I may buy a jar to try out.

I have a jar of Saphir I have been testing. So far I am very happy with the results. It certainly isn't a product for everyone. It is geared toward the concourse crowd where there is a small margin between 1st and 2nd. For those folks, a couple hundred bucks for wax isn't a big deal when you are putting it on a very expensive car.

Unless Jack Camarda at Swissol North America is lying to me, Swissol is not a Zymol franchise. They are direct competitors. I've spoken with him at length several times. He used to work for Zymol along with the founders of Swissol.

"where do you see 40 did I miss something?"

I have a price list that was recently sent to me with their catalog/detailing guide. I think I posted prices on a prior thread. I will look for a link...

I'm looking forward to that catalog, I submitted for it again since not receiving anything when I originally did so in January

It looks like I was short on the dollar amount - $69 versus $40 so roughly in Pinnacle Souveran land or slightly more...

Any experience with Swissol products?

Here are some basic wax prices (US dollars):

Onyx (cheapest) $69 (30% Carnauba)
Saphir premium $119 (40% Carnauba)
Concorso (used on show cars) $199 (48% Carnauba)
Mystery $499...the mystery is the high price. (55% Carnauba)
Divine $1,950 (60% Brazilian white carnauba by volume)

They have several special blend waxes for cars:

Samurai (Japanese of course) $69
Viking (Saab/Volvo) $69
Shield (teflon for SUVs) $115
356 (older Porsches) $119
Zuffenhausen (newer Porsches) $119
Scuderia (Italian paints) $119

This seems reasonable. They appear to have their own version of sorts of GEPC called Cleaner Fluid at $30.

Car Bathe is a car shampoo concentrate at $49 for 200 ml which I find quite pricey. They also have convertible top cleaners, tire & wheel cleaners and dressings, and interior items including a tempting wax for wood trim.

Guys,

The real story behind Swissol and Zymol is this (it's confirmed).

Swissol started first in the 1930s in Europe.
Their wax formulations can only be produced by hand and not by mass-commercialisation. Very conservative and laidback company.

Then, one of the Swissol relatives migrated to the US and...(ahem) "brought/borrowed" along the recipe there where she had big plans for it (mktg support, PR....etc). However, to keep up with demand, she had to mass-produce it and finally chose Turtle Wax company to contract-manufacture the waxes. Her line of products was called ZYMOL!!!!!!! and it was marketed very professionally and aggresively in the States. Thta's why Zymol's product range closely mimics that of Swissol.

However, as many Zymol dealers already know or pretend not to know, there are many cases of quality problems with Zymol waxes. The waxes in their transparent tubs often exhibit whitish patches and these are considered problematic products. Over the years, Zymol has dropped out of the rat race and is no longer as popular as it was back then.

Therefore, Zymol can be perceived as an imitation of the original product - SWISSOL.
When you look at Swissol, forget about Zymol.

As for the cost of the product, I agree it's expensive.
I have never believed in spending this kind of money on detailing products and I am highly aware of the "hype phenomenon" which I have described above in my earlier post.

However, after using more than 12 brands all these years (Megs, Eagel One, Menzerna, Zaino, Klasse, S100, .......), I cannot hide from the fact that Swissol waxes (Onyx) produced excellent results on my vivid red paint. It was so "alive"!!!

I also agree with LWR that Swissol waxes smell very nice.
It's not just a cheap fragrance, it's the rich aroma of all those "goodies" that have been crammed into the tub.....hence, it's exorbitant price.

I am still not buying their products due to the cost.
However, the Swissol centre does a fantastic detailing job for me for only USD 34 using clay (they call it rubber putty), Cleaner Fluid (polish) and Onyx. Simply superb!!!

He he you think they could drop the price a bit with an unscented version? It's the look I would want, not the scent

Whatever floats your boat I guess. If you can wing the cash to pay for expensive wax and are happy, more power to you. The same could be said for anything: clothes, cars, etc.
